I dunno. Would you be overly worried about EDS at center?Originally posted by Lurker64 View PostIt's always an issue to try to balance the salary cap with what players want. Wells may have the Packers by the short hairs here.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

RT @Buccigross: Can the Packers franchise Flynn, then trade him for picks like Pats did with Cassel? ... Unlikely. Too much $ risk for Pack.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

"The Mighty Flynn (Flynn The Packer)"
Everybody's building the big ships and boats
Som are building monuments, others jotting down notes
Everybody's in despair, every girl and boy
But when Flynn the Packer gets here everybody's gonna jump for joy
Oh come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Flynn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Flynn.Who Knows? The Shadow knows!

I think you can still swing it if you work out the details of the trade quickly. Flynn can't officially negotiate an extension with the team he'd be traded to until the cap deadline, but that's never stopped anybody before.Originally posted by pbmax View PostGood catch.
See if you have a trade partner before the tag deadline, figure out what sort of money Matt Flynn would want in an extension, and check and see if that's acceptable with the team you trade him to. If everything is in place before the tagging deadline, I think you can manage it.</delurk>

Very doable...if Flynn goes to free agency, then it becomes a free for all. A few teams will be very interested in getting him prior to free agency. The Browns with Holmgren at the helm come to mind...who also have a spare 1st round pick. If they can't get Luck, they can get Flynn...which is probably the better move anyway.Originally posted by Lurker64 View PostSee if you have a trade partner before the tag deadline, figure out what sort of money Matt Flynn would want in an extension, and check and see if that's acceptable with the team you trade him to. Unless Matt Flynn thinks he will get a better deal on the open market. He can force the tag decision by not negotiating with the team the Packers select. Then its either tag or FA. I don't see it happening, its not in his interest to do it.Originally posted by Lurker64 View PostI think you can still swing it if you work out the details of the trade quickly. Well, at the very least Flynn's performance today likely guarantees a contract sufficient to make the 2013 compensatory pick the Packers would receive for him a 3rd round pick rather than a later compensatory.Originally posted by pbmax View PostUnless Matt Flynn thinks he will get a better deal on the open market.
