Even if he had more snaps split out wide, how many starting TEs never split out wide? A TE snaps in today's game will be split between inline and wide. He's definitely a TE. How many WRs line up inline with the offensive linemen and are asked to block or chip before going out on a route? Or stay in and block the entire time? To me, it's a ridiculous claim that he should have WR money. Do your job, son, and you'll get paid via a long term deal.
No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

Pug's sources look pretty good to me. He lined up at inline Y 54% of the time. He was a TE. How about this deal. JMF lines up at inline Y. Then, he goes in motion and runs a pass route as the equivalent of a WR. Then, he drops the pass he was targeted for.

Which side of his free agent ledger does that play go on?

so lets just say for arguments sake that they decide fin is a wr not a TE.

do you still franchise him, or do you let him walk?

he didn't play like a 10 million dollar man last season, that's for sure

If it fits under your cap plan, then yes, you do. There are no guarantees other than the one year and you know he wants more than $9.4 million in cash. He has already been injured and missed significant time. I think he would still bite on a long term deal even with the WR cap figure.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

If he makes a big stink and doesnt sign the TE franchise tag, let him sit.

But is Finley an UFA or RFA?

Before he was signed, he was a UFA, because he'd been a player for four seasons. He was a rookie in 2008.
