  • Matt Flynn, Top 15 QB

Aaron Rodgers said that Matt Flynn will be a Top 15 QB.

At first, to me, that sounded like damning praise. After all, he didn't say Top 5 or Top 10, and there are only 32 starters on every given Sunday (although up to 40--a guess--may start in a year).

That being said, the Top 15 QBs are usually relatively entrenched as starters, so maybe it's better praise than I at first thought, no matter how much like hedging it sounded like at first.

Let's say Rodgers is right and Flynn is Top 15. Who are the other 14 QBs on that list, and does his company on that list mean that he's worth a big contract?
No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

I would think the Aaron Rodgers is implying that Matt Flynn is at least a Top 15 Starting QB in the NFL.

My view is that it was pretty high praise for how few starts he has. Rodgers didn't say he couldn't become a top 5 QB. Not sure on the list but a few candidates are:

      Brees
      Brady
      Rodgers
      E. Manning
      P. Manning
      Roethlisberger
      Rivers
      Ryan
      Newton
      Vick
      Romo
      Schaub
      Flacco
      Dalton
      Stafford

How Matt Flynn will fare as a starting NFL QB will depend largely on the team he signs with and that teams ability to supply him with a solid OL and offensive weapons.

Since at least 15 teams start each season not knowing who their starter at QB is each year, Id say that's a pretty safe bet.

On the right team Flynn could out play a few of those guys on that list.

Not on that list, but Sam Bradford is a guy who could be a top 10 or 5 guy some day if he had anything around him.

The word today is that the Miami Dolphins are keeping a close watch not only on Peyton mannings moves but also Matt Flynn as they cannot risk Matt Flynn slipping away from them as a starting QB option.

There's some concern that the Seattle Seahawks might scoop Matt Flynn out from under the noses of the Miami Dolphins. The jury is still out on whether or not matt Flynn is the real deal. Evidence of that as the TRUTH has to be Bill Philbins response to Peyton Manning.

If Philbin loves Matt Flynn why wait on Peyton Manning and all that will come with that signing?

The Peyton Manning ensemble. LOL Any gurantee to satisfy?

because he's Peyton effing Manning. IF he's right, you're odds at winning just went way way up.

Apparently Manning wants nothing to do w/ Seattle so they will def turn their attention elsewhere.... whether its Flynn or not remains to be seen.

Exactly. That is where Joe Philbin is pinned. He's salivating 'only' for Peyton Manning and at best today for the Miami Dolphins Matt Flynn is just a maybe.

Matt Flynn talking to Browns, Dolphins

This year’s best free-agent quarterback has narrowed down his choices to four teams. This year’s second-best free-agent quarterback is currently talking to two teams.

Matt Flynn, the former Packers backup quarterback, is engaged in contract talks with the Browns and Dolphins, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

The Browns are interested in bringing in a quarterback to replace Colt McCoy as the starter, and Flynn would be a sensible option. Cleveland isn’t in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes and was beaten out by the Redskins in the Robert Griffin III derby. If the Browns don’t land Flynn, that’s another step toward another season of McCoy as the starter.

The Dolphins signing Flynn makes a lot of sense because he and new head coach Joe Philbin spent four years together in Green Bay. But the Dolphins are in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, and as long as that’s the case, they’re not going to sign Flynn.

If Flynn wants to sign with a team that is ready to make him its starter, Cleveland might be his only option right now.

Wow. He's not sounding very popular right now. His new nickname could be "Homeless" Matt Flynn.
