  • So I just got home to see what we did today. MAN, amazing how Teddy's board has worked that the BPA is on defense every pick! Anything exciting about today's picks?

Not sure what you guys are talking about... home post-op, flyin' high. Even thru the fog, I'm enjoying the draft though - no thinking allowed.

As I said in another post - Ted finally got the memo. I could clearly see the potential for bad happenins last off season; and I'm just as guilty of one thing that Ted is - put faith in Neal. The front seven as a whole?? I haven't been happy with for years.

I've been saying it for a long time - the front seven lack front line talent and depth; and the players are not well suited to their roles in either the base or sub packages. After looking at TT go absolutely nuts on front seven picks - I guess Ted agrees - finally

      Round 1, Nick Perry (OLB)
      Round 2, Jerel Worthy (DT/DE)
Round 4, Mike Daniels (DE, sub inside pass rusher) - like this pick.
      Round 5, Terrell Manning (OLB).

All 6 picks so far on defense... and 4 of them in the front seven; and all 4 of those have the skill sets necessary to fill a specific role in an attacking 3-4.

I'd say that, yes, TT finally got the memo; and just for having the balls to acknowledge how dysfunctional his front seven was - 5 years from now, I'll stand behind TT's efforts in this draft.

      I applaud TT today.

I've heard reports that he's a complete and utter tool. It's unlikely that's enough for a DND though.

i think the manning pick might end up being a steal someday. originally thought to be a 2nd rounder (knee)...but then again, what the hell do i know!?

            • The Packers are drafting Cullen Jenkins types on the DL. Both of those guys are quick as a whip. If the opposition decides to double our edge rushers and/or Raji, they're going to have another guy who can shoot a gap and either get a sack, hurry a bad throw or put the QB on the run where our edge speed will eat the QB for lunch.

Pressure up the middle, it doesn't always get as many sacks. QB's can see it coming, but it forces a lot of errant throws and broken plays.

I like the makeup of our line/OLB's. They have a couple studs and it looks like a couple guys who can beat single blocks. Pressure is going to be steady. And we have a lot of them. . . . They shouldn't wear down.

Then our back 5 is fast, fast, fast and ball hawks. Looks like we're trying to put together a good pass defense.

                • If even half of these dudes pan out, we are going to be a dangerous team. I think it was right to carpet bomb the defense.

                    Is Manning inside or outside?

Outside, although I wouldn't rule out a move to the inside given his lack of height (6-2)

He was a WLB in a 4-3 in college, but...

Moss said that the most impressive part of his game is his interior pass rushing ability. I imagine he's going to be an ILB.
