Going from your list I would cut Coleman, Tyler, Merling, So'oto, Manning and Ross, and IR Starks or PUP Sherrod. Keep Boykin, Muir, Jones, Richardson, Doc Jennings.

I'm a bit surprised we couldn't trade one of our WRs for OL depth.

Caplan has been at great pains today to say nothing is official until 9 ET. He intimates that something could happen to a guy identified as "cut" or "waived" if there is interest. Seems to be saying player or agent could give out information about no longer being on team when in actuality, team putting out word about a deal.

Not sure how often that happens though. The Bears traded a FB to the Texans and he specifically was not listed that I saw as cut and his first news item was of trade speculation. Still, each piece of news is from an unofficial source who is in the know (player/agent). Miscommunication could happen.

Yes. Barclay has really been coming on since Datko got hurt, but his background strikes me as on 53 man roster but inactive each week. Lurker, JH or Harv might know more of his background.

I think you're thinking of Dan Connolly. Anyway, he'll never get signed as a KO returner; he doesn't apply any of the "three points of pressure!"
