  • Bye Week Notes and Quotes

Kicking off with the injury updates:

Estimates from M3 are vague today, but so far:

Matthews to miss at least a couple of weeks.
Perry getting a second opinion on his knee. (Second opinion?)
Bulaga to miss some time. M3 is concerned because his body was "not in a normal position". He is going to see a specialist. M3 wants "everybody's opinion"

My guess is that Bulaga could very well be done for the year. It sounds pretty bad.

Jordy sprained his ankle but "should be ok".

Kuhn should also be ready to go in week 10.

They're okay on the OL as long as nobody else gets hurt. The depth is pretty much non-existent now though.

The reserves are Greg Van Roten and Don Barclay. I've heard no indication they expect Sherrod can play.

Per Demovsky, Perry has told teammates that he has an LCL injury

whoever the packers trainer/team doctor is, that guy needs to be fired.

perry is just now finding out he needs surgery?

it took 7 weeks to figure out jennings injury wasn't something that will heal on its own, but an injury that needs to be fixed

                  WTF is with that clown?

That really IS unacceptable. These guys are supposed to be the very best at what they do. And if they aren't -- why??

An LCL should heal on its own in a matter of weeks with just the standard RICE treatment for a sprain. I wonder if it's not more than that.

Was I imagining it or did Bulaga fall down on a run play on his own? Was he hurt then or on a previous play?

My working assumption on Jennings was that the player wanted to try rest and heal and the team let him. After it wasn't working, they went to the specialist.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

That's they way I saw Bulaga's injury, too.
I think you are right about Jennings.

Does anybody have a video of Bulaga's injury? I'm not sure why I want to see a fat man falling down, but I'm interested to see what a "twisted" hip looks like.

McGinn or someone at GBPG today wrote that Bulaga got tripped up by another player's foot while heading out to block on that play. So his stumbling was at least partially related to a trip. But that would have to be a heck of a fall to get injured falling forward even after a couple of false steps. I wonder if the hip got whacked out of sorts immediately after the trip on the next bad step?
