First, let me say that the entire Steelers organization should face ridicule for allowing Byron Leftwich to finish the game yesterday with a (reported) separated shoulder and two broken ribs (confirmed). Regardless of the chances those injuries threatening him with further harm while continuing to play, it was clear he could no longer throw effectively more than 10 or 15 yards. Why is Charlie Batch on the roster?

Tom Coughlin didn't win two SBs by encouraging his specialists after they made a bad play, especially a fucking inexcusable bad play. In fact, Coughlin almost cut his punter on the spot after the poor dude helped the Packers into the big dance by punting the ball to D-Jax instead of out of bounds as Coughlin had instructed.

Getting back to the thread, the Lions are in their old, familiar place: a season of hope and promise (every year they have all these high number one picks to show off!) falls into the garbage. They're all still saying what they're supposed to say: the season's not over, we need to win the next game, no looking ahead, etcetera, but I think they're done. The Titus Young thing shows that this team is still a lot of ill-assorted characters, and despite that deep defensive line, the vaunted offense can't pull its head out of its ass.

Man, if the Packers had two of the Lions' defensive linemen, they'd be scary. Really scary. That Fairley kid is figuring it out.
