  • My observations of the blow out win again by the GIANTS over our Packers.

NY GIANTS 38 - Green Bay PACKERS 10. The 28-point beating the Packers endured on Sunday night Nov. 25, 2012, was the team’s worst loss since ARod's time as our starter. Did Aaron Rodgers have any real chance for a win last night? Sure our offense was able to sustain us over the course of serios long term injuries to key defensive players but that only goes on for so long. Last night...the gig was up.

Four of our most important players, including three defensive starters are out. Greg Jennings is recovering from groin surgery and missed his seventh straight game. Safety Charles Woodson has a broken collarbone and was inactive for the fourth consecutive game. CB Sam Shields has been battling a lingering leg injury and missed his fifth consecutive game. Clay Matthews, the Packers’ best pass rusher, missed a second straight week with a hamstring injury. Our team is hurting badly with the numerous injuries and as Packer fans that has to be heavily weighed in terms of Packers Vs strong teams. All the injuries has to naturally take it's toll.

    Here's the Packer injury Report:

In a Packer Vs GIANTS game I look at the Head Coach's. Did MM have our team 'under prepared' for that game? Maybe the team wasn't set mentally to play a tough opponent that had to win that game last night? All week I felt it was a tough call as to who would win this matchup. The GIANTS own us of late in big games. In those games. Really, who is the superior coach? Mike McCarthy or Tom Coughlan? Observing both on the sidelines. Which coach do you like?

MM decisions. That call to try to get Mason Crosby's confidence back by asking him to kick a FG beyond mid field. IMO that wasn't the best decision but I don't know where Mason Crosby's head is in such decisions. I don't know what he and MM have decided to do, to go RE: giving his confidence back.

Personally I wouldn't ask Mason Crosby try such a long FG.

So looking at our team overall and hopefully, short term problems. It's obvious that we are again struggling with pass defense. We're missing Charles Woodson at safety and Clay Matthews limits our pass rush in a league that needs one big time.

Long term. Our OL is horrid. It's now given up a NFL high 37 QB sacks. That's unlikely to get fixed in a hurry. We need to get Greg Jennings back to give Aaron Rodgers more opportunity to see a talented WR open. We need to see MM open up our offense to see the ball spread around. Where did that go? I read the bitch on J. Finley at TE and are you understanding his role this season?

I'm an NFL fan and a Packer fan. I realize that the margin of winning can be small. I see more parity as a factor this season in terms of outcomes. If yopu really expected your Packers to go into New York and defeat the GIANTS who were rested and more health now. Your IMO certainly an optimistic Packer fan. I felt that the GIANTS had to win that game last night and too much was in place to ensure that result.

Today our team is 7-4 or the best record amongst curent Wild Card teams and the remaining schedule is dominated with NFCN games. We have to get healthy for a real chance.

    GO PACKERS !

Batch is 5-2 while subbing for Roethlisberger through the years.

Projecting 5-2 to 10-4 to 11-5. Now if I could have a back-up QB that wins 5 NFL games of seven. I'd say I had a real gem. Yes Charlie Batch threw 3 Picks yesterday and the TO's killed the Steelers in Cleveland but as a backup for the Steelers Batch has done very well in the past.
In the past. Shawn Merriman was an effective LB...in the past.

He's 37, and it was patently obvious last night that he is not going to start in the NFL any longer. He's a clipboard holder only, in the mold of the Doug Pederson of 2004. His job is to laugh at the starting QB's jokes, clean and reload his guns on hunting trips, and run the scout team offense.

Interesting that Pittsburgh has two vets backing up Roth, instead of a vet and a developmental guy. It's been a while since we've had a vet behind our QB, whereas it used to be commonplace - before Pederson, there was McMahon, Rubley and Bono (who I think was still allowed to wear a leather helmet).

I realize 'of course' that Charlie Batch isn't 'a world beater' but that 5-2 record as 'the resident' backup impressed me. So much 'in fact' that I backed him and the Steelers in Cleveland this week. Mistake !

Everything you need to know on Charlie Batch. I'm sure he's someone's HERO:

            • Fr. the above article:

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy didn’t hide his emotions for his team’s 38-10 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday night.

“We were thoroughly beat this evening. We were beat in every facet. It starts with me. When a team is beat like that, it starts with the coach,” McCarthy said in a postgame press conference like none in recent memory. McCarthy even hinted that Sunday’s loss at MetLife Stadium might be the worst in his seven years as the team’s coach.

At the root of the Packers’ loss were five sacks of Aaron Rodgers by the Giants who, again, were able to disrupt the Packers’ passing attack with a four-man rush. It was the same formula the Giants used last January to win at Lambeau Field and knock the Packers from the playoffs.

“The New York Giants have an outstanding defensive line. We had a plan. We didn’t execute it very well. We got away from it and went to some spread things that didn’t work very well. That was my fault, bad play calling,”
              McCarthy said.

See the above LINK for the entire story.

                • When the QB gets hit or sacked on more than 50% of the passing plays, everything about the passing game was broken.

                  A - pass blocking sucked
                  B - Qb's decision making was bad,
C - play calling was poor
D - game planning was off target.
E - receivers failed to adjust, didn't take what was there, and made too few big plays.

"A" undoubtedly contributed to "B", but "B" can be a problem at times anyway, particularly when Rodgers becomes ultra safe. "C"+"D" did nothing to help out "A", "B"or "E", and "B" and "E" did nothing to overcome deficiencies in "A", "C" and "D".

Just an overall poor performance by everyone involved.

I struggle with this because I know that Rodgers will win more games than not this way. BUT it's aggravating sometimes that he seems to get more conservative in certain situations (after turnovers, getting shelled). I get to see Manning play every week now, a QB that Rodgers is sometimes compared with for heady play. A HUGE difference I see when each are under duress is Manning's willingness to continue making (necessary, IMO) risky throws when the team is down, sometimes because of his hand -- even to receivers who have dropped balls. See Denver's Atlanta, Houston, and San Diego games, particularly in the 2nd half. Manning continues to throw balls into tight coverage, even some that could be picked off. To me, this was also where a certain former Packers quarterback shined, though his overall method be more maddening.

                      Well Thanks a bunch.

Can anyone inform me as to whether or not James Jones or DD was on the field and either targeted? There absence seemed conspicuous to me.

Packer injury report ..... DD was listed as probable (thumb) and I believe James Jones dressed.

TRANSLATION - An utter mess and must be simply forgotten and all efforts exercised looking forward to Minny at Green Bay this week. It was OK for MM and Packer coachs and Packer players to exercise their possible need and option to view the game film for a maximum period of 24-36 hours. To dwell on that any longer into week 13 would be masochistic.

Denver's line is playing well and Clady has returned to form as a top LT. That sure helps.
