Kicking off with Justin Smith's torn triceps:

    http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archiv...n-triceps.html

He's going to "try to play through the pain" but the injury has ended seasons. That's a huge blow for the 49ers, IMO. They've let up 73 points in the last 6 quarters without Smith in the lineup. They had only given up 187 pts in 14.5 games prior to his injury. That's an increase of almost 9 points per quarter. Granted, there is distortion in that number based on several other factors (opponent, favorable FP for Seattle in that game, etc) but it's going to make their life much harder. They've been blessed with relatively good health on their D for the last couple of years.

And of course, Richard Sherman won his appeal, so Seattle has both CBs for the playoffs.

Not good for SF. They're hopes, IMO, are all but shattered. Now we just have to hope they win their last game so Seattle has the long road. The NFC is down to 3. GB, ATL and SEA.

Let's hope for the best this weekend. Would love to play SF or DAL first. Let ATL take on Seattle and we'll take the winner of that one.

Seattle doesnt do well on the road and ATL could choke on air...GB in the Final Game!!!!
Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

Don't count your playoff wins until the Giants hatch.

Yep, I thought their loss on Sunday meant they were out. Little did I know that they still have a shot. As much as I hate it, guess I'm a Redskins fan this Sunday, cause there's no way the Giants are losing three in a row, not to mention they are playing the Beagles.

The Gnats need all 4 of these things to happen for them to get in:

The Giants must beat the Eagles.

The Lions must beat the Bears.

The Packers must beat the Vikings.

The Redskins to beat the Cowboys to win the division.

If any of these four things do not happen, the Giants will miss the playoffs.

It's really tough to repeat. The GIANTS will have a tought time beating 'the Michael Vick is back' Eagles this week. The GIANTS look worn out late in this season.

The Kicking situation in the NFC is getting interesting.

Seahawks have officially placed Steven Hauschka and Chris Clemons on IR and signed Ryan Longwell and Patrick Chukwurah.
So Seattle's kicker has been IR'ed and San Fransisco has 2 kickers who have tanked in the playoffs before... Suddenly I'm feeling like the universe is evening out for Crosby.

You know Longwell will be hitting that Applebees in Tukwilla, right by Seatac, immediately after the wheels touch ground.

They generally frown upon Applebees in Seattle...

Question: After the Pack beats SF, if Seattle wins, the NLCS is at Lambeau, right?

                        How sweet would that be!

Do you suppose Pete Carroll will let Ryan Longwell decide whether or not he feels like trying a FG in the situation?

What? 46 yards? In the South end zone? I said my limit was 45.5!
