Running the ball is fine. But its a faster fix to learn how to complete passes against a 2 deep shell while they are playing press man. Actually, that is my biggest concern with Jennings gone. Beat man to man off the line and get open before Newhouse lets go.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Joeckel apparently has been told by KC that Fisher is their pick.

Jags two tone helmets on the clock.

true. packers are more paranoid about injuries and generally smaller guys that throw theri body around get injured more.

I have a lot more faith in James Jones getting off a press than I do Jennings.

In the abstract I do too, especially on slants where getting around him is tough for a CB. But in practice, he tends to go long against press and Jennings (previously Driver) would work the middle and sit down somewhere open. Cobb will be called to do that now. Finley being reliable helps tremendously.

The weird part is how discombobulated Rodgers can look when the gears are not moving smoothly against that coverage. There was video of his last year with Jennings or Cobb open short underneath the safeties and between LBs and Nelson open deeper between the safety and the corner and he declined to pull the trigger. Nelson had sat down into a zone and Cobb/Jennings was running into the open. Its only one play and only a snippet and we don't know the intended target or progression. But two guys were open and no pass was completed.

I get that sense a lot versus that defense since KC. Better protection will help break it down.

Since then, TT has drafted Justin Harrell, BJ Raji, Clay Matthews, Bryan Bulaga, Derrek Sherrod and Nick Perry in the first round. 4 of those guys are either DT's or OT's. The other two are 3-4 outside backers.

I think TT values big bodies, and for some reason, I think we're going to draft a big guy you're happy with tonight. This draft is deep in the trenches. The first round has a lot of big OL going early in the first round and enough DL talent to last all the way to 26 most likely. There might be a skillplayer TT values, but if it comes down to it, TT has said god only makes so many 300 pound men who can move. I think he knows those guys are rare and you have to take them with your first round picks.
TT says good big men are harder to find than good small men.

Example: MM wanted to draft Michael Crabtree but deferred to TT's desire to draft Raji.

Do you mean did not resign Crabtree and use that money to help sign Raji?

EDIT: My bad. I actually misread the post. Or did it just change to clarify Michael?

                • From JerseyAL at AllGreenBayPackersDotCom: http://jerseyal.com/GBP/2013/04/25/p...-and-whispers/

Whisper: If there is one player the Packers would consider trading up for, it’s Sheldon Richardson. 49ers talking to Jets about the same thing…

Prediction: The Packers will draft a running back and/or wide receiver between Rounds two and four.

Opinion: If a trading partner can be found (49ers? Pats?) Packers should trade back a bit and pick up another third rounder.

Whisper: Top running back on the Packers’ board is Johnathan Franklin, UCLA.

Whisper: I was told to “expect a surprise” in the first round by the Packers. No more details than that, unfortunately. Trade up? Kevin Minter (who they love)? Robert Woods? Tank Carradine?

Prediction: There is no way the Packers come out of this draft without taking a running back.

Opinion: Two mid-round safeties the Packers should be going after are JJ Wilcox of Georgia Southern and Duke Williams of Nevada.

Whisper: Packers have done “a ton of research” on Kevin Minter, Stedman Bailey, Johnathan Franklin, Le’Veon Bell, JJ Wilcox, Dwayne Gratz, AJ Klein, Ryan Griffin.

Prediction: Johnathan Franklin or Le’Veon Bell will be a Green Bay Packer.

Opinion: Seriously hoping Ted trades down and amasses 4 picks in the top 100…

I think that's why they kept Boykin and Ross around too. Both have shown some ability to deal with physical secondary play.

Ross is a return guy. Boykin just needs reps -- reminds of Antonio Freeman.

                      • I would love to have Franklin play for the Packers. I've seen a few UCLA games and the dude is a baller. Where is he projected to go? Will he be there in the 2nd when we pick?

                            • From a size/speed perspective, Franklin in the first round is a bit of a stretch:
