The Jones pick doesn't make me thing we're sticking to the 2-4. We could just as easily be getting smaller in a 3-4 now that we've got legit 5-techs.

I like the pick too. He was one of the guys I felt good about going in. I don't think he's a unique talent in anyway, but this reminds me of the Josh Sitton and Greg Jennings picks. He has all of the athletic tools (nothing off the charts, but everything you look for) he's done it a lot, proven he knows how to play football, has no character warts. . . . . He's a really safe pick at a position we really need. TT says he plays smart, square, with burst, and closes on the QB. TT went out there and said he does it all well. We need that. It will help Clay out.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostCJ Wilson is a limited talent guy with very minimal upside; this guy has huge upside...19.5 tackles for losses last year....legit pass rushing force. Great Pick
I just think we need to play more base defense now. Put an extra guy on the line to cover up the linebackers a little more. Jones can play OLB now on base downs. Then, when it's nickle, Perry can come in fresh as a bit of a pass rush specialist. Hawk can come off the field on nickle with Jones moving inside. That's what I picture.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

I don't know yet if it's a great pick, But he's obviously a playmaker, unlike Wilson. Having him and Matthews rushing from the right side will give teams a lot to contend with.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostCJ Wilson is a limited talent guy with very minimal upside; this guy has huge upside...19.5 tackles for losses last year....legit pass rushing force. He's no where near a Harvin. It's a terrible trade for the Vikings.Originally posted by Carolina_Packer View PostVikes are hoping that Patterson can morph into Percy Harvin. I don't know about giving up so many picks to be able to draft him; not saying he's a bad pick, just possibly bad value.

[QUOTE=digitaldean;721238]Got to love the Bears 1st round pick Kyle Long quoted as saying, "I didn't expect to go this high in the draft."[/QUOTE
LOL, I wonder if he is looking forward to being pushed around by Cutler for the next 5 years.

Great guy, hard worker, smart, played NT, DT, 5-tech, DE, plays square, has burst, closes hard. . . . .
Knowing what I know about football, that's a pretty complete package. It sounds more similar to when we picked Josh Sitton than BJ Raji. Raji, TT talked about unusual power. . . With Sitton he talked about how he did everything on the field well. . . . Just off the top, the things he said, it reminds me of the Greg Jennings and Josh Sitton picks. TT just said he does everything well, he's a player.
He also seems very, very safe. Productive, athletic, hard worker, smart, natural playmaker. . . . No holes in this guy.
Gotta agree; the debate was either this guy or trade down. He fell into our lap, and fills a need at one of the spots we need help. Dude has played everywhere and put up elite stats playing against good talentTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Can't say Vikings didn't go big. Floyd was supposed to be top 5. Rhodes ranked No. 2 CB. Patterson No. 2 WR. Gave up a lot but went for it.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
