it just blows my fucking mind that seattle gave up so much for a WR who has never been healthy and then paid him a shit load of money

i hate the queens, but they absolutely raped the sea chickens in that whole deal. and IMO they ended up with a better WR for cheaper who they didn't have to give up anything for

Traded for a 1st rounder, a 7th rounder, and a 3rd rounder next year. Then gave him 6 years 67 mill and 12 mill guaranteed.

This guy is as fragile as glass; Hawks got fleeced.

Albert Breer, whom I normally like, mentioned that Percy Harvin was a luxury signing for the Seahawks, he wasn't necessary.

So which is dumber, $25 million guaranteed to a luxury or Breer?

EDIT: According to spotrac and news reports at the time, $14 mil was fully guaranteed. $11 mil was guaranteed for injury.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Could call it a luxury, but Seattle went BPA shopping on other team's rosters. I doubt there was a better FA or player available in trade.

How do we bite our fingernails over spending an extra $100 thou to hang onto key special-teamers while other teams spend mils like a lottery winner spends singles on his first night in the strip club? I like being a fan of a team with Ward Cleaver in charge instead of Mike Tyson.

Flynn on track to be the Raiders starter:

Hope he lights it up in their first game, and then in the post game interview comments how things would have been better if he didn't have the worst arm in the league.

I don't usually like laughing about injuries to players on other teams, but it can't be helped in this case.

I don't understand why Oakland got this guy.

Palmer, even if he wasn't playing lights out, was playing well. Good accuracy, TD-INT ratio not bad. He certainly wasn't the main reason for their record, and it's not like Flynn was a clear upgrade.

The cap was too high for him and Palmer wouldn't budge. He actually took a lesser contract with AZ to be traded, so it seems he wanted out of Oakland pretty badly.

Right, I remember that now. Crazy what they gave up in picks for Palmer, then had to release him due to cap! That has to be the worst cap management ever!

That couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of chickens.

It's the difference between having a starting quarterback who costs $2.1 million through 2015 and a starting quarterback who costs $130 million through 2019. Their most expensive defensive player costs $35 through 2016. Ours is $70 million through 2018.

You can take more stupid risks when you have key players drafted in the new CBA. Heck, I don't know what we'd do if we had to pay our corners market value.

Happily, outside of one year, the Pack was not saddled with top of the draft contracts from that stupid era. The big contracts you talk about are a third and second contract, when the players got their value. The Pack could probably afford to splurge on a player if they thought they saw someone worth it. The teams that are hurting are the Cleveland and Detroit's of the league, who may have some good players, but never had a period of time where they were outplaying their contracts.
