When push came to shove though - Capers puked up another hairball.
That's always the way it is with this team, when it really comes down to the tough ones they can't hack it.

    • Both teams look good. Pack couldn't stop Kap-to-Boldin. Run D definitely looked better though. Niners are too good to beat when losing TO battle. Could have been better with Burnett. Hopefully they get another shot at them.

      • Despite the negativity from a lot of people here, I predict the Packers will be right there at the end. I'm not surprised we didn't run well against that front, but Rodgers had enough time to do his thing. The DL is going to be stout with those three big dudes (Raji, Pickett, and Jolly). I think it was huge that Bush and McMillian played a ton instead of Hayward and Burnett. Hopefully, we are healthy heading into the postseason because we can hang with that team. And I have a lot of respect for them. That's the most talented team in the league. Screw moral victories, but I'm not going to have a "sky is falling" mentality because we lost to a great team on the road. I watched the Bear, Vikings, and Lions today. The Packers are still the cream of the division. The Lions are actually the second most talented team in the division, but they still have the propensity to shoot themselves in the foot.

Is our defense really that much better?
Put in a bad position twice by offense/special teams and had 49ers with free down at 8 yard line.

Yes, I would say they are improved but all that focus on run D left Davis and Boldin way too open.

Right now Capers is one step behind adjusting to the 49ers O. In hindsight, seeing them pass like crazy after having run like crazy last year seems predictable.

Played without our best corner and our best safety. I think a lot of these things are fixed once Hayward and Burnett are back. It's a loss. It's not the end of the season.

You mean like losing in the Super Bowl?

Agreed. Burnett and Hayward instead of McMillian and Bush.

Hyde did not look quite the same as in preseason, did he?

                  • Have to say, alot more positives than negatives. In every facet of the game save pass defense, the Pack played pretty well with mistakes being pretty correctable. The pass defense, though, if it does not get better will mean more losing games.

I agree! It could've been stolen but too many mistakes costs.

That week 4 bye will come in handy as two rough games are ahead for the Pack. Defense not that much better on [stat] paper but should be somewhat better than last season.

Lacy has given Packers O some new spark.

I don't think Hyde is the big issue. McMillian was awful. We really do need Burnett. Sucks that a guy who played every snap last year misses the first regular season game. I really hope that he comes back 100% and stays that way. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if that game is an NFC Championship preview.

wasn't bad for a rookie's first game. the whole secondary suffered.

                            • Ross is not the answer as KR. As far as the secondary goes, Niner's QB had way to much time back there. I think the Packers D was so concerned with read option they let Kapper have a field day. When he was hurried, he wasn't as accurate. Burnett injury really hurt though. Offense looked good. OL was not as bad as I thought they'd be. There is hope.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

                              • Just in as I was watching the game at a family party. Just a couple comments

We really miss Burnett because we really don't have even one good safety when he's not there; it's not hard to figure out why I wanted Eric Reed so much
We really missed Hayward just as much

I know I've said this over and over and over....but Brad Jones is really sub par. He lost his jock strap on several key plays today; I am used to that.

James Jones seems to disappear against good competion; Jordy Nelson excels. Finely is still an asset. Lacy gives us another pop that has been missing in a while.

Overall this team played pretty well and how well we played San Fran on the road shows that we're one of the best teams in the NFC
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER
