  • I for one never would have guessed it, but is House gonna stick as outside CB with Tramon sliding into nickel slot position? House played like a demon on special teams, and was a good blitzer and tackler who made plays all over the field. Tramon seems quick twitch enough to really do well covering slot receivers.

Is there a chance Hayward comes back as the dime slot DB in this scenario?

    • i think the thing that is bugging me is that we had 580 yards on offense but only (only) got 38 points

also RGIII was off, i would have liked to see some turnovers. redskins were giving the ball away left and right last week

i guess even though this was a ass kicking, its not as big of a blow out as it should have been imo. we should have had 35 in the first half and should have had no problem hanging 50+ for the game

      • We are not 0-2, and we have a good chance at coming out of our first 3 games 2-1. I for one thought we would be 1-2 possibly 0-3. Weathering this storm, we can turn on the jets and roll into the bye week.

        • Point is, we not only got a W, but it was clear we are leap years ahead of that team. To me, that is enough...

lets hope the emergence of house and banjo on special teams, and their ability to not suck on defense, will finally convince the powers that be that we no longer need jarrett bush on this team at all

I was thinking the same thing. Save a roster spot, cut Bush, have House take the torch on STs for next year.

              • Oh, I don't know about the pessimism. We basically double up the Skins at home. The defense was pretty solid and pitched a shutout in the first half , and had Jones not fumbled a touchback they'd have been up even more than 24-0. They gave SF all they could handle for most of the game last week, but I don't think there was much (if any) drop off this week.

Starks impersonated a starting RB. Hell, he even got a rushing TD. Rodgers was playing out of his mind. In the second half I thought the defense relaxed a little bit, they played some of their backups a little bit more, and the Skins played with more urgency/pride...but after the Starks TD it was 38-7 with 3 minutes left in 3Q and just about garbage time.

Except for Jones' fumble they took pretty good care of the ball, they were called for 4 penalties, and they rolled up 619 yards of offense...if you're looking for an ugly win, this wasn't it.

CIN will be a good test for the Packers' OL. Hopefully Burnett's hamstring is good enough to play on defense, and Lacy's cleared to play.

                1-1 feels a lot better than 0-2.

                • Good win today, needed it.

I'll throw this out there. I'd take their o-line in a heartbeat. If I'm a skins fan, that was probably the only bright spot. They kept RGIII relatively clean today.

                    • Talking heads saying Merriweather's second helmet to helmet was legal - I don't think so, he was headhunting, Starks just turned into it at the right time to redirect the impact.

Merriweather should get fined for those hits.

                      • After 82 games with no issues regarding the new rule preventing forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of the helmet, the new standard came up three times on Sunday.

                        Hit #1
Per a league source, the first one — on Packers running back Eddie Lacy — probably should have drawn a flag. The only open question is whether Meriweather lined Lacy up for a hit with the top of the helmet.
                        Hit #2
As to the second hit involving Meriweather — on Packers running back James Starks — the officials made an appropriate non-call. Per the source, Meriweather did not make contact with the top of his helmet. Instead, Meriweather hit Starks in the helmet with the side of Meriweather’s helmet.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
