I think he also had some kind of bone bruise as well. I remember reading a story about him that the swelling and feeling in the hand were the biggest problems. Or something along those lines.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

4 weeks plus rehab but sounds like he will be back.

Clay Matthews injury called a Bennett fracture. Thumb needed to be stabilized w pins bc its dislocated. Pins out in 4 weeks and then probably some more time to heal

Yeah, I wasn't overmuch trying to diminish the impact of Favre's injury as put Clay's in perspective as requiring a surgical procedure that will necessitate at least a month of healing before wrapping and playing.

Favre's didn't need surgery, but it no doubt hurt like hell and he warriored on. If my thumbnail was split I'd want a Demerol drip and vodka and render myself incapable of running a lawnmower, much less an NFL offense.

          Gotcha.

In other news, I now know what a Bennett fracture is. Rand will be hear in the morning to give us further details.

That doesn't look good. No wonder it needed pins. Has anyone found the moment of thumb-breakage on video?

I'm gonna guess he'll be out until after the Giants game. I really wanted to see him throw Cutler to the ground a couple times.

I read in JSO that when Clay missed extended time last year, we platooned Erik Walden, Dezman Moses and Frank Zombo.

My have things changed for the better in this regard.

NO shit, I had that exact dislocation in 6th grade. I fell down the stairs on my way to gym class and my thumb was resting almost all the way back at my wrist and sticking straight up. The doctor said he never saw anything like it without a break. A rather hefty nurse pinned my arm down while the doc ripped it back into the socket....guess thats what you get when you aren't and NFL superstar.

                      Next man up, Roll PACK!!!!

It sucks but at least it is at the start of the year and he will be ready to rip up the last 8 games and playoffs!!!

Tough break. I hope he's back in 4 weeks or less. 4 weeks feels like a long time though. The defense is a lot better with him on the field, and I'm not convinced they can repeat a 3-1 record like they did last year. I hope I'm wrong.

With Jones, Francois, and Matthews out, that's a lot of depth lost. I have to think (or hope) that Capers has something up his sleeve to compensate. Maybe he rolls out the dollar defense or listens to wist and uses 3DL. I don't think most of the backups are ready for prime time...but I guess we'll find out. Everyone says Perry looked more comfortable in Matthews' spot, and Neal is learning fast. They'll need to play well against the Ravens.

The pass coverage is gonna suffer with Jones out. Hawk is smart and steady, and I'm glad he's healthy, but he's not the guy you want covering the scatbacks and TE's of the NFL.

No status listed for Jones yet, it should be up tomorrow.

just saw on PFT on NBC that he got pins inserted in the thumb and that the pins come out in 4 weeks, there probably will be a recovery period after that

i have a feeling he's gonna end up on the IR with the ability to return closer to the playoffs. we just don't have roster spots to burn right now with all the injuries
