Long-time NFL coach Mike Pettine is joining the Cowboys defensive staff, reuniting with coordinator Christian Parker. As the Packers defensive coordinator form 2018-20, Pettine gave Parker his first job in the NFL in 2019. When hired, Parker attempted to talk Pettine out of retirement. Now six weeks into the season, Parker has a veteran coach as a sounding board.

        • In five games as the Miami starter, Willis has completed 73 of 130 passes for 849 yards, with two touchdowns and four interceptions. His passer rating is 68.4, which puts him last among all 29 qualifiers.

Unfair. They decided a full rebuild of the offense was in order and he has very little talent around him. Achane is good. The OL is bad. The WR room would be good for the Badgers maybe.

And Achane tore his ACL week 3. His leading receiver by far is Malik Washington who is a 3rd year player who was never a full time starter before this year. He' 5-8, 192, so likely a slot receiver.

              • I think everyone know Willis is playing QB without much help. He's earning that money. Calls to replace him would be silly - half their cap is dead (exaggeration, but still). Hafley and the FO know this and are rebuilding a house that's been burned to the ground. They should absolutely stockpile draft picks and will use their cap next offseason to restock with players.
Honestly, if given the rope to do this, it's the dream of many a GM or coach to build a franchise essentially from scratch.

As for Willis, he has generational wealth after reviving his career in GB. Dude looked like he was this close to being cut by TEN and ending up in the CFL or Arena league. Good for him.

But will his stats cost the Pack a round or two in the supplemental picks? I was frankly hoping at least for a fourth.

Stats don't get figured in, but playing time does. So if he were to get benched, that could be a factor.

                    • Honestly, the way he played last year, I think he's worth a third, but from what I understand, his contract wasn't big enough for that, so a fourth would be the best we could hope for.

On an unrelated note, Don Hutson has a tryout with the Dolphins on Monday.

The poster or the Packer? Either way, big news.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Thats right. I totally forgot Achane is out. If I had him on a fantasy team you can bet I'd remember.

Another example of Goodell doing whatever he pleases. The packers are consistently fucked in compensation. SF on the other hand gets awarded high picks for losing a white coordinator who identifies as black.
