Photo shoots with trading card companies??? I think I'd rather see them in camp, especially with the limited amount of OTAs teams are allowed to have now. Really not good for rookies to miss them. You'd think the NFL could do a better job of scheduling, this could've been done anytime from the draft up to and including last week. Studpid.
My initital reaction as well. SMH

I wonder who set their date first, the sponsors for the PR event, or the Packers for their OTA?

I wonder if players could decline? If only 40 are selected to go , how is it that the 53rd and 85th picks are selected for it, especially when one was as low profile as Thornton?

It's a conspiracy against the Green Bay Packers.

Rookies can't decline. I think it was Brandon Jackson a few years back who had the same issue (might've been another player). There was an article at the time where he was saying he'd rather be in GB, but he didn't have a choice.
No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

Most team's camps are running this week and next. If they'd set up the event for last week they would've avoided potential conflicts with any team.

I think there were a handful of teams that started last week, too. But the bigger questions in my mind were about the player selection process and whether or not a player could decline. With only 40 chosen, it seems odd that two would be selected from the Packers, and not even including their 1st round pick. The two selected were not all that highly ranked at their positions, and neither has much name recognition nationally. Did a bunch of players decline, making it an option for Thornton? If many players did decline, it doesn't speck well for these two not choosing OTAs over an NFL sponsored ego-fest.

                I blame Colt Listerine.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Turns out they can not decline - or at least, if they don't attend, they can not choose to be at team facilities instead.
