  • Old football game (watch before youtube yanks it)

Since it's a Viking game I get you might not want to watch it but check out the halftime show around 1:40:00 - they have some Packer highlights during halftime and those old commercials I actually remember watching. Best watched by the resident old guys here.

    Rookie James Lofton is mentioned.

During the game the great Woody Peoples got a mention. Best name ever.

Don Criqui on CBS. That is old school.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Yea, bunch of familiar stuff like Jimmy the Greek. Young Irv Cross.

      edit:

LOL, straight ahead kicker Rick Danmirt - who was the last straight ahead kicker?

      Rashad beats CB Herm Edwards.....

Ya think Criqui gave that pelt on his head to Capers?

Pinto commercials? "We're a four Pinto family" lol

Didn't bother to look back at how bad the Giants were that year, but it must've been something, they had fans burning their tickets outside the stadium!

See the field for the Cincinnati/Atlanta game? Standing water on the field, I bet that was one of those terrible first generation astro-turf jobs. (edit: checked - yup, astro-turf as Riverfront Stadium)

Check out 1:48:20 for a textbook helmet to helmet tackle. Ragsdale ends up flat on his back after scoring a TD.

                That's very cool Rastak...Thanks a bunch.

Doesn't time fly by so very very fast. I was "only" 32 then.

I always enjoyed watching Fran Tarkenton scramble. Jaws and Herman Edwards are playing in this game and Chuck Foreman, Carl Eller and many other blasts from some of our pasts. Time......

                Fran Tarkenton.

Mraynrand rode in a Ford Pinto way way back in 1972. Totally unaware of the imminent danger...

I love how straightforward the announcing was - they really did do play-by-play. Not all this modern-day soap opera narrative storylines that get constructed, and not all this ex-jock horsing around and pretending they're funny. Sure, ol' Sonny is an ex-jock, but he did try to provide some support for Criqui and kept his comments down a little bit. Not as much critique and judging as today - just a presentation of the game, with some straightforward commentary ("The Viking offensive line has had some problems this year").

The camera work is a lot sketchier than I'd remembered. That's one area that is much better today.

Ah, ol' Chuck Foreman, and Ron Yary. Soem old-school names. Who was that Vikings RB, I think, who wore glasses and had a couple really good seasons? Chuck Muncie? Didn't he play for them at some point?

Five years before I was born, but man, I love those old games.
