I think he meant the team in general was flat. He started out talking about the botched snap because that was the first play of the game.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places

But they've summoned, they've summoned up

From Bob in his Game story on the pass/run ratio: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/275042491.html
The plan was to run extensively, according to Quarless, but when the Jets defended the Packers' three-wide formation with base personnel, McCarthy refused to run against a flooded box and finished with 50 dropbacks and 16 runs.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

But had we not turned it over and we go and score in the first series nobody would be talking about coming out flat. I think the entire team was reeling after getting behind by 7 before everyone was in their seats. It wasn't pretty but to come back and win a game like this can be season altering even this early.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostI think he meant the team in general was flat. Isn't this Wist' dream defense? Base personnel against 3 WR?Originally posted by pbmax View PostFrom Bob in his Game story on the pass/run ratio: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/275042491.htmlGo PACK

Yes. It took away Lacy, but couldn't contain Jordy.Originally posted by Bossman641 View PostIsn't this Wist' dream defense? Base personnel against 3 WR?I can't run no more

But it wasn't just the fumbled snap on the first play, it was an entire half of being unable to stop a mediocre offense or move the ball with any consistency. If a botched first play affects the team for an entire half then something is wrong on a more fundamental level. Consider, by contrast, how the Packers responded in the home playoff game against Seattle after Grant fumbled twice in the first two series.Originally posted by Pugger View PostBut had we not turned it over and we go and score in the first series nobody would be talking about coming out flat. Wists dream defense is one where Capers gets a cornerback to play nose tackle and an entire football forum agreeing with the decision.Originally posted by Bossman641 View PostIsn't this Wist' dream defense? Base personnel against 3 WR?

Much is being made about the timeout nullifying the 4th down TD pass from Smith to Kerley, but it seems that the Packers knew the play was whistled dead before it started:
@MMehtaNYDN: Clinton Dix knew play was whistled dead. As soon as Kerley caught TD, he was waving it off without looking back at refsWhen the going gets weird, the weird turn pro ~Hunter S.

Tramontana said the same thing. But House and another DB said they didn't hear it.Originally posted by denverYooper View PostMuch is being made about the timeout nullifying the 4th down TD pass from Smith to Kerley, but it seems that the Packers knew the play was whistled dead before it started:

Seriously. What happened to Hayward? I want to believe the rookie season wasn't a fluke, but he's obviously not playing at that level now. Was he just playing against scrubs that year?Originally posted by Guiness View PostThat surprises me. Last time we saw much of Hayward, it was during his rookie season, and he was playing pretty amazing. It sure seems that his play then was a level above where House is now.
If it wasn't for last-minute financial woes, I would've had a Hayward jersey right now. At least now there's time to see if he can elevate his game again. I can't imagine a talented CB wouldn't play from scrimmage with Bush getting more from-scrimmage snaps than him. So it makes me wonder if he got severely over-hyped. I just don't know.No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

Hayward missed some time in training camp. MM didn't really talk about it. I wonder if the hammy is still an issue. Or maybe they just wanted the more physical House against a physical Jets team.I can't run no more

I remember thinking the coverage seemed light on that play. I don't have the video here, but wasn't there 1 db vs 2 wr in the endzone trying to defend it?Originally posted by pbmax View PostTramontana said the same thing. Check out the replay at the 2:44 mark. Ha Ha and House aren't near anybody. I have to believe they were affected by hearing the whistle.Originally posted by denverYooper View PostI remember thinking the coverage seemed light on that play.
