Miami's offense is goofy. They try to pass the ball a ton but are much more effective on the ground. Tannehill has nearly 39 attempts per game but only 900 yards on the season.

Thursday was a step in the right direction. After giving up 235 yards to Chicago, the Packers held the combination of Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon to a reasonable 96 yards on 22 carries (4.4 yards per carry).

One change the Packers made against the Vikings was turning strictly to their traditional 3-4 package on running downs in lieu of the new quad formation. Capers said specific looks would vary week to week based on matchups.

In 2009 they were notable for being the league's best rush defense. In 2010 they were notable for never leaving nickel, overall defense got better at the expense of rushing defense.

3irty1 had it. 2009 featured big-bellied, hard nosed run defense and horrible pass D. 2010 was much better pass D and run D slumped, though not to the levels seen thereafter. It could also have been all Howard Green.

Its just two data points. The rest of the numbers tell a far more muddled and pathetic story:

So can someone teach me up on Tannenhill and the Phins? Is he a young and promising guy?

What kind of defense do they run down there? And can someone make it cooler? That heat's gonna wear the Packers down. I've seen it before when they've played in Florida.

To get the real story on 2013 you need to show the first 8 games and the last 8 games separately. 24th doesn't capture just how bad they got.
