    Packer Report @PackerReport · 1h 1 hour ago
MM: Clay Matthews is not an inside linebacker. He's a football player. Goal was to move him around to create challenges for offenses.

    Packer Report @PackerReport · 1h 1 hour ago
MM on Matthews: "Well see where he plays this week."

    Packer Report @PackerReport · 1h 1 hour ago
MM: Once you start pulling starters, "the special teams really gets stretched. That's what you saw" on the Bears' TD on the kickoff return.

    Packer Report @PackerReport · 1h 1 hour ago
MM on Rodgers at line of scrimmage: "He's off the charts, just the way he sees the game ... he's at the highest level of his career."

    Packer Report @PackerReport · 1h 1 hour ago
On long TD: Nelson recognizes broken coverage; Rodgers saw him and connected for the TD.

MM on Sitton and Lang. Valuable having them. Excellent players. Both came out of the game in good shape.

Green Bay Packers ‏@packers 1h1 hour ago
McCarthy: I really liked the way (DuJuan Harris) brought it back in the kickoffs. He played one of his best games.

McCarthy on players battling through injuries: That's all part of your culture, your leadership & showing the younger guys how it's done.

McCarthy on replay challenge vs. #Bears: "Bad challenge. Dumb challenge. Should've never challenged it." #Packers

    Packer Report @PackerReport · 52m 52 minutes ago
MM on Peppers: Getting more comfortable with scheme and teammates. Natural progression of playing together.

    Packer Report @PackerReport · 50m 50 minutes ago
Apparently Peppers' pregame speech ran a bit long. "He was unbelievable. Clearly the best one we've every had."
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Can't believe they called interference. Really, Jordy needs to do more to fight for the ball.

      I can't run no more
      With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
      Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up

Well, the Elephant defense, one incarnation of it anyway, has been abandoned. Matthews inside this time was not an extension of his moving around the defense in the Quad defense with Neal and Peppers at the Ends.

Earlier in the season, the Packers had Matthews moving around their defense pre-snap as well, but many of the times he lined up in the middle of the defense, it was when they were using a four-man front with only three linebackers in a defense they called their “Quad” package – one they have since abandoned.

              SECONDARY (4)

The Packers inserted a safety up to stop the run, played mostly man coverage behind it and controlled one of the NFL's more explosive passing games. Casey Hayward (32) rotated with Hyde (55) at nickel back, and Davon House (21) held up well on a pair of take-off routes by Alshon Jeffery. House also dropped an interception and lost his footing on a 22-yard completion to Jeffery. Hayward's 82-yard TD return didn't take great skill, but players drop those type of interceptions all the time. Bennett made Hyde look bad in Game 4 turning an intermediate corner route into a gain of 23. This time, Hyde was in much better position, stayed between the ball and Bennett and made a tremendous interception. Sam Shields had four of the seven missed tackles by cornerbacks. It just can't happen. He was paid $9.75 million per year to get dirty and be a complete player. He also dropped a pick that probably would have been a 98-yard TD and misjudged the ball before missing the tackle on Brandon Marshall's 45-yard TD. The return of Morgan Burnett (48) strengthened the communication and run defense. He worked his hands beautifully to beat Forte for a sack in 2.6 seconds. Burnett lost track of Bennett on his 37-yard reception.

Baranczyk: Hyde Best Tackler of Three Slot Corners

Hyde isn't fast for his position, as his 4.56-second 40 time attests, and he's not much bigger than average in size (6-feet, 197 pounds) for a slot corner. But he's a better all-around player near the line of scrimmage than Hayward, who has a nose for the ball in pass coverage, and Williams, who at age 31 remains a quick and instinctive cover man.

Hyde, as he showed even last season as a rookie, is the best tackler and blitzer of the three, and he showed it Monday night while often matching up against tight end Martellus Bennett, who's one of the Bears' key offensive weapons.
Hyde was the nickel corner for the game. He also was in coverage on Bennett several times.

And this on Perry enabling the Matthews switch:

One reason Capers was able to make the daring move of Matthews to inside linebacker is the play of Nick Perry in Matthews' place at outside linebacker.

                  ...

Perry (6-3, 265) is big through the haunches and doesn't get blown back. He doesn't shoot too far up field and take himself out of plays. He also keeps his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage, which makes it hard for running backs to get outside him, where they can break off big runs. Down in, down out he plays the run from outside linebacker better than Matthews did.

Evidently Aaron Rodgers stated on his radio program today that he developed a sore back during the Bears game. He stated that he thinks he got it by standing around so much in the 2nd half.
