        • As usual, Packer writers not sure what Ted is up to ...

          ASU safety...or corner?

          - Damarious Randall @RandallTime
          - Green Bay ..
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

          • A safety, ok, wouldn't have guessed that. Position seemed pretty solid last year. They say this guy has great coverage skills - I wonder if he could be the dime back?

Just a thought.....it's time for you to stat holding TT accountable for our defense instead of putting it all on DOM...........eight of the last ten 1st round picks on defense.......do we have that talent to show for it ?

                • Randall looks like a good fit for the No Touch Football being played in the modern NFL.

Sounds like he's going to play corner.

Trading back with NE has been nothing but good for us - Clay Mathews and GJ came from picks the Pack got from them!

                        • 7. STEPHONE ANTHONY | Clemson 6025|243 lbs|4SR Polkton, N.C. (Anson HS) 7/28/1992 (age 22) #42

BACKGROUND: A five-star linebacker recruit out of high school, Anthony attracted a lot of attention as a Parade All-American and narrowed his college choice to Virginia Tech or Clemson, choosing the Tigers on signing day. He played in 13 games (three starts) as a true freshman in 2011 and recorded 31 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Anthony started his sophomore season as the starter, but lost the job and came off the bench in the second half of the season, finishing with 77 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack. He became a full-time starter in 2013 as a junior and led the team in tackles (131), adding 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks, earning Third Team All-ACC honors. Anthony returned for his senior season and started all 13 games, finishing with a team-high 90 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, earning First Team All-ACC honors. He received an invitation to the 2015 Senior Bowl.

STRENGTHS: Looks the part with a filled-out frame and good arm length…rangy speed and plays fast to cover a lot of ground…natural on his feet with the smooth movements to easily sink and redirect…highly aware defender with proper eye use…displays the functional strength to work through contact, filling hard at the line of scrimmage and disposing of bodies at the second level…attacks blocks aggressively and never quits on plays…physical striker and plays with violence, using his length to wrap and finish through the action…adequate pedal to drop and make plays in coverage with natural ballskills (14 passes defended, three interceptions)…locked in and focused with on-field results that are a product of his preparation, hard work and energy…consistent production as a starter, leading Clemson in total tackles the past two seasons.

WEAKNESSES: Inconsistent angles and lacks the lateral speed to make up for false steps – not a sudden pursuit player…needs to be more reliable finishing tackles in motion with overaggressive tendencies (shoot first, ask questions later)…inconsistent hand use and shed technique, too often lost in the crowd and not keeping himself clean…caught off-balance in coverage with a bad habit of using his hands to slow down tight ends and running backs, attracting flags – awareness, spacing and timing need refined…needs to improve his backfield vision while locked up, too easily losing sight of the ballcarrier at the point of attack…plays with tall pad level, exposing his body and making it too easy for blockers to engage and gain body position…predictable as a blitzer with a bland arsenal of pass rush moves.

SUMMARY: Anthony arrived at Clemson as one of the top recruits in the country and quickly found the field, but lost the starting inside linebacker job halfway through his sophomore season. He refined areas of his game to be more consistent and worked his way back onto the field as a junior, starting 25 games the last two years, leading the team in tackles both seasons. Anthony has a terrific blend of size/strength/speed with quick reads to break quickly on the ball against both the run and the pass, but will hesitate at times and take himself out of plays or be overaggressive and take himself out of plays – compares to Bruce Carter, both positively and negatively. He has some hiccups in coverage and with his angles due to inconsistent instincts, but he has the size/strength/athleticism profile for the NFL – shows starting potential as an inside linebacker in a 3-4 or 4-3.

I thought we had enough talent to compete for a title the last 2 years - Dom just fucked it up.

That said, TT doesn't do anyone any favors with how he drafts for defense... even if this guy proves to be a decent slot defender, like I said, who in their right fucking mind spends a 1st round draft pick on a nickel back??

In that sense, it's another wasted 1st round pick by Ted... he has more than his share of misses - it's not like he's bullet proof.

Raji and Clay and Hawk are the only high picks. Got us a SB. Packers essentially haven't had a round one pick for years. I'm OK with them spending on defense in round 1. Used a lot of FA money on the offense. That's compensation enough.
