You really should look at his last five to seven drafts and analyze his picks. You'd agree with me. Numbers wise his hit/miss rates are pathetic. He has Brady and a brilliant coaching staff. He's added all these picks over the years....and then made some trades that would appear to be great on paper...but the reason they have not won more Super Bowls is because he misses on a very high majority of his draft selections.

Last year they had a great signing....kind of lucky...in Derrell Revis.

Without that free agent signing they don't win the SB.

    • Sure, but FA is a part of being a GM. It is a tough argument to make that the team's football management isn't premier, from the top of the organization to the bottom. They really have been tremendous the past 15 years. Imagine how many more SBs Peyton would have if not for those pesky NE teams.

I'm going deeper and drawing implications

Far more dominant when Hoody had a good GM to go along with the top coach

They remain good; still one of the top franchises similar to Green Bay....make the playoffs every year....and bound to win a title or two along the way

But NE as the dominant force in the NFL no longer exists

Now THAT is dedication to the cause. And people laughed when I listened to the game on the radio during my honeymoon.

          And congratulations!
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I agree. Seems Packers were getting bad spots on the ball too - at least two times IIRC. What really irritated me was the 4th down run by Jimmy G. He was a good 1/2 yard to a yard from getting the 1st down, plain as day, and the line judge gave him a terrific spot. I know it's preseason, but I'm glad MM challenged.

            • Couple things I noticed

Gunter had a good game. I've read good things about him in practice and it showed on the field. He had one bad play, he and Bradford whiffed on a tackle. Maybe Bradford took him out of the play - I'll have to rewatch. His coverage was very good.

Rollins - Two almost INTs. Gotta hang on to them Rookie, but his coverage was pretty good. I saw him get grabby a couple times, so he better watch that.

Raji - Looked like a damn wrecking ball at times.

Jake Ryan - Played great. TFL and a sack I think

Elliot - His motor never stops. Loved watching him last night.

Ya I saw a few times where Rollins was grabbing and making it even worse is that he was going high and going for the shoulders. If you're going to do that you have to at least go low and make it less noticeable.

Elliot shows a lot of effort. My only concern is it seemed like he was going wide quite a bit.

He needs a second move. From what I saw, he has the same issue with the Ladies.

Agreed. The rooks looked good. I thought Crockett and A. Harris looked good as well.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

                      • Things to improve:

Red Zone - Maybe NE is just that good, they were pretty good against the Pack last year. Maybe the Pack was conservative and trying stuff out, but it can't continue into the season.

2 pt conversions - See Red Zone.

Missed it b/c we were pinned in end zone, but Vaughters' inside move forced hold on Elliott/Datone Jones' sack. Won him some camp battles

Nothing new from last night but Rollins did incredible job playing ball in his first #NFL in-game action. Bruce Gaston impressed me too

                          • And so the Super Bowl loser hangover begins for Seattle. Von Miller with the sack, Wilson coughs it up at 10 yd line on 2nd play of game.

                                It sure is.

They drafted a few OL this year, guess we'll see if TJ Clemmings can handle it.
