    Hawkins was needed to play a dime package when Burnett was injured.

    It was Brice, HaHa, Randall, Gunter, Hyde and Hawkins. The only other healthy DB left was Evans.
    But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

      They couldn't do it on the last play of the quarter, obviously, but they could do it twice, give up 10 yards and force a hail mary with 2 seconds left.

      Packers needed 35 yards, or seven 5 yard penalties.

        Exactly.

          Its never good when you have to know every DB on the roster and PS. Not because they all could start, but because they all might HAVE to start.

            Ezekiel is complaining that the investigation into his domestic violence issue is dragging on. I suspect the NFL will actually get on it now that there is no danger that suspending him would hurt the Cowboy's chances of being in the SB.

            The NFL has spent months investigating an allegation by an ex-girlfriend of Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott that he committed domestic violence in their relationship, and that investigation isn't going to end any time soon.

            At a time when many wonder whether the NFL had been delaying the ongoing investigation regarding domestic violence claims against Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott to help the team, the man at the center of the probe is agitating for a final answer.

              WRT the suggestion the Cowboys commit 4 professional fouls on the same play to stop Rodgers from doing what he does, it does constitute unsportsmanlike conduct (15+5) and doing it on consecutive plays constitutes a palpably unfair act (7 pts). No you cannot do that in that situation.

              Referees are also within their power to rewind the clock, at their discretion.

                But how many times has that been called in a game?

                Someone used this idea this season. I think it was the Rams and they got away with it.

                  Love it! lol
                  One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

                    They thought about doing that but, after tearing Adams' jersey off his back earlier, determined the refs would never call defensive holding anyway so it wouldn't work.

                      It was the Ravens holding on a punt. Since the clock went out and there was no defensive penalty, the game was over. Refs erred in that there should have been a professional penalty assessed and they should have given the opponent a chance to return an untimed free kick after the safety or given the opponent possession at the spot of the foul (turnover on downs) and one untimed play on offense. The opponent should have been given their choice between the two.

                      League admitted to this and apologized IIRC. It takes a ballys and knowledgeable ref to call it correctly.

                      NFL also needs to change the rule. Game should never end on an accepted penalty.

                          edit: I see smuggler answered first. I found something different about the league reaction though.

                          It was the Ravens, and the second time they did it...first time was in the Super Bowl! The difference is that they were on offense - a game can't end on a defensive penalty, but it can end on an offensive one.

                          NFL made a statement wrt to the 'palpably unfair act' and said it would only be so if they had done it on consecutive plays.

                          @MarkMaske
                          NFL says end of Ravens-Bengals game officiated correctly. Not a palpably unfair act to use that tactic on one play... (continued)

                          @MarkMaske
                          ... (2 of 2) If Ravens had used same intentional holding tactic on a second straight play, it would have been palpably unfair act, NFL says.

                            My example was 49ers and Saints, end of first half.

                            We throw the word "genius" around liberally when talking about NFL coaches, and no coach is more emblematic of that practice than Chip Kelly. But the 49ers head coach may have finally earned the "genius" label when he came up with this genius tactic, which he employed against

                            Here’s the situation: New Orleans has the ball 13 yards out from a touchdown. There are seven seconds left in the first half, and the Saints have one timeout remaining. They have time for one shot at a touchdown before they have to kick a field goal.

                            So what do the 49ers do? They intentionally hold all of the Saints receivers, Brees has to spike the ball and six seconds run of the clock, preventing the Saints from taking a shot at a touchdown because a penalty call does not put time back on the clock.
