  • You give Hundley time to show if he has grown. There is no exact number for how long it might take.

I think Rand is right the we know the ceiling, as the offense is currently constructed, is low for him in Green Bay. But if you want to see if he can improve, he needs snaps.

Giving them to Callahan is pointless since a decision doesn't need to be made on him in the offseason.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I don't think Hundley is terrible. I do think the coaching he is currently receiving is limiting him.

I was no fan of the offense. But he was missing his favorite receivers in the middle of the field: Adams and Rodgers.

        • Hundley is fucking terrible. No amount of coaching will help him. TT and MM fooled themselves with him.

None of this makes any sense.

If there's no exact number, then one could argue that he's already had enough snaps to decide.

If his ceiling is low, then we invest time in getting him to "improve" enough to reach his low ceiling?

If we can't decide on Hundley without real game reps, how do you decide if Callahan is better than Hundley without real game reps?

And I don't even have a dog in this hunt. I hope TT finds a different guy altogether, preferably a known-quantity retread with a track record.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

The same way it limited Rodgers....same coaching. Nice call genius.

Teddy Bridgewater might make a nice backup....

                • We saw what an excellent backup quarterback looks like last night.

No, I was thinking of Joe Callahan. Short. Space between his teeth.

Sorry, that didn't work that well, "excellent" spoiled it.

Rodgers wins despite stubby not because of him.

Maybe... ...If TT had called Belichick the day Arod went down, we might have had Jimmy Garoppolo here as a backup for 8 weeks. I wonder how the season might have gone differently if that call had been made.

Garappolo isn't a backup. He was picked at a position to be a starter. Those guys only last so long before someone makes a move on them. I think if Rodgers had been lost for the season very early, the Packers might have gone after him.

                            • ^^^ But it wold have set up a dilemma. Older better QB versus good younger QB with unknown ceiling. Makes you consider trading Rodgers for picks and rolling with Crappola.

This is along the lines I'm thinking. I think they've seen enough of Hundley to know what they've got, but do they know what Callahan has to offer?

I guess Hundley is likely back next season. Don't know how I feel about that.
