The issue isn't whether they got value with the trade, its whether they lost value on who was available at 14 and what they ended up getting at 18.
Derwin James was available, also Edmunds. If those players reach their potential and become All Pros the Packers missed a big opportunity.

I like Alexander as he was the 2nd best cover corner in this draft. In fact he might be a better football player than Ward. I think it was better than moving up to get Ward, so the Packers have that going, which is nice.

In that dipsy doodle of moves from NO. 14 to NO. 27 and back to NO. 18:

The Packers got a solid CB and covered a certain need. They did nothing really for Aaron Rodgers or add protection for him as I hoped they might.

The Packers also gave up their Third Rd. Pick at NO.76 and their Top 5th Rd. Pick at NO.186.

So they left two players on the Board that we liked as you named above or TREMAINE EDMUNDS, VIRGINIA TECH, ILB who went at NO. 16 to the Bills and DERWIN JAMES, FLORIDA ST.Safety who went next at NO. 17 to the LA Chargers.

Next Season for all intents and purposes the Saints will make the playoffs.

So that NO Saints First next Season is in all likelihood a No. 20 to 32 Overall Pick.

Awesome Lamar Jackson goes in Round One to the Baltimore RAVENS..a perfect fit for him

A great and smart move by the RAVENS....now they will have a QB as their NO. 1 is a FA in 2019 and this young Mna and the 2016 Season Heisman Trophy Winner and the mist exciting Prospect in this Draft is a RAVEN and the Heat is off hinm to have to suffer the long wait and Round Two.

Smallish with great cover skills using those long limbs. He can be devilish on punt returns. We got a highly rated player in an area of need. Wanted a pass rusher, but it wasn't in the cards.

Player Bio Jaire Alexander - CB - Louisvile

" While Alexander was just a three-star prospect coming out of North Carolina, and ranked only in the top 70 cornerbacks in the country, Louisville saw a future starter in his speed, ball skills, and physical play on the outside. He proved them correct in 2016, intercepting five passes and breaking up nine others in 13 starts to garner second-team All-ACC honors. Alexander played in 12 games, with one start on defense (19 tackles, one interception) in his true freshman season.

He's also made a name for himself as a punt returner in his first two seasons (29 returns for 223 yards in 2015, 19 returns for 195 yards in 2016), including a 69-yard return for a touchdown against ACC rival Florida State in 2016.

Alexander missed about half of the 2017 season with leg and hand injuries, but managed to start six of seven games played on the year (19 tackles, one interception, four pass breakups) and was named honorable mention All-ACC."

Are you serious?

I also was thinking that we should draft him but I believe he landed in the perfect spot.

I had him (before the Draft) going at 15 and to the Arizona Cardinals. NO 16 was Originally in this Draft - Baltimore and if the Arizona Cardinals passed the Ravens would grab him. So the Ravens and their fans have to be ecstatic with the selection of Lamar Jackson late in Rd. 1.

That was Philly's Pick or NO. 32 and somehow NE got it and Baltimore traded back into Rd. 1 and NE to Pick Lamar Jackson.
