I had the Packers trading with the PAts in my mock, not even close. But I did have the Packers taking Alexander

The calculation is if you can still get the guy you want and the extra pick, you're golden. That pick next year is worth LESS this year, but you already got it in your pocket AND got the guy you were targeting (most probably - Mayock had the Pack taking him at #14). It's a government bond with an high but inexact final amount that matures next year. Could be worth a lot.Originally posted by pbmax View PostBut it doesn't help now unless you deal it now.
So its value while it remains a future asset is discounted to the present. Very illiquid.
Can be very valuable, but it has some limitations."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. Rather be as I am and feel real sympathy for his sickness." - Woodbuck

The issue isn't whether they got value with the trade, its whether they lost value on who was available at 14 and what they ended up getting at 18.
Derwin James was available, also Edmunds. If those players reach their potential and become All Pros the Packers missed a big opportunity.
I like Alexander as he was the 2nd best cover corner in this draft. In fact he might be a better football player than Ward. I think it was better than moving up to get Ward, so the Packers have that going, which is nice.

Pete Dougherty @PeteDoughertyOriginally posted by HarveyWallbangers View PostWas is it a 5th or 6th we have up? I've seen suffering reports.
Packers trade with Saints officially announced, for No. 14 this year they get No. 27, No. 147 (fifth-rounder) and first-rounder next year.

Packers receive picks 18 & 248 (R7) from Seattle for No. 27, 76 (R3) and 186 (R6).Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Yep, but it did essentially cost you a third to buy that bond for next year.Originally posted by mraynrand View PostThe calculation is if you can still get the guy you want and the extra pick, you're golden. Anything can happen. Streak like the Packers always picking in high 20s don't happen often. Even Pittsburgh gets weird in even seasons.Originally posted by call_me_ishmael View PostYeah, I mean, everybody thought the Texans were going to be an elite defense and super bowl candidate and they ended up giving the Browns the #4 pick. I highly doubt that's what they planned when they dealt it.
No one would be surprised if NO defense took a step back or the running game got slowed down a little this year.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Packers have 2 4th round picks and 4 5th rpund pocks. Might try to move up into 3rd round.Originally posted by JustinHarrell View PostLosing the 3rd rounder is sad though. That hurts.

I would have liked him at 14. So yeah I think he has the potential to be special. Or he sucks fake penis and chokes to death during his rookie year. Years later the FBI realizes that he was a victim of a serial killer that killed his victims with rubber imitation penises. You just can't predict this shit.Originally posted by JustinHarrell View PostYou think hes a good player?
