  • Nah, this is the guy you want. The middle one.

CAPTION: At these events you can wander around and then suddenly find yourself in front of three of the greatest running backs in Packer history. This is Jim Grabowski, Jimmy Taylor and John Brockington
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

So yeah if he scores TDs for a playoff caliber team it's understandably frustrating to fans. It's not like this offense has been setting the world on fire without him.

I agree with you about Hill. But it probably wouldn't have mattered as stubby probably wouldn't have used him.

What specifically are you objecting to? IIRC, I heard in another broadcast that they require 30 min from the last lightning strike and that the lighting has to be over 8 miles away. Should it be something else?

Yeah, like it was before Goodell.

honestly, I don't recall what happened in regular season games before Goodell. I do recall at least 2 HOF games being cancelled for lightning and one other one for lightning and then excessive rain (Packers vs. Chiefs before the 2003 season).

Right, rare occasions and preseason games. Now, there's policy if there's lightning within a certain distance of the stadium (I guess 8 miles) the game is automatically suspended for 30 minutes. And if there should happen to be lightning say six miles away at the 28 minute mark of the delay, then delay clock is reset for 30 additional minutes. Wash, rinse, repeat. Ridiculous.

Ah, that is silly. In any case, I say play on. They have those lighting rods for a reason. They'll get hit more likely than players, and the fans, especially Cam Newton fans, if they get struck at all, will figure God is doing them a solid.

                    • When they say lighting doesn't strike the same place twice, do they mean the stadium or a particular seat?

They were referring to Cam Newton throwing an accurate pass.

CYA A delay is a lot easier to manage than the fallout if a fan or player gets struck. These delays are pretty standard for all sports at lower levels.

I thought this was common knowledge.

If the policy is you have to leave field for 30 minutes if there's a lightning strike within 8 miles of stadium, then why wouldn't you have to reset additional 30 minutes if there was an additional lightning strike within that same vicinity?

I just can't wait for the day we get screwed over b/c we lost momentum due to long delay or say the game was deemed to have been played long enough for an official result, with the Packers losing 17-16 early in the 4th quarter. That day is coming.

                              You have been warned.

I know about the 8 mile radius rule but I'm pretty sure the minimum is only 10 minutes. When the strike happens, the weather terrorists let the NFL know roughly how long they anticipate the lightning continuing in the area. That's what the delay is based on. I know that high school sports and the NCAA use the 30 minute rule.
