3 games for Pouncey is bullshit. He punched and kicked Garrett's head with the helmet on. Guy just committed aggravated assault on his qb. It was seconds later. Teammates should be expected to defend each other in that way when an opposing player goes psychotic. Small fine. That's all.

What a disaster this game was for the 2 teams:

Browns:

Garrett suspended indefinitely
Ogunjobi suspended 1 game
Morgan Burnett may be out for year with achilles injury.
Randall ejected for helmet to helmet hit. Can't rule out a suspension

Steelers:

Pouncey suspended 3 games
Smith-Schuster suffered a concussion
James Conner reinjured AC joint that had kept him out of 2 previous games.

Garrett was lucky he didn't connect with a more solid part of the helmet. Dude is big, very strong, and those helmets can give/take a lot of damage. He's done for the year for sure.
I didn't see the CLE as a having much playoff hope, I think this will sink them.

Pouncey should get 3 games, wouldn't be surprised if he appeals it down to 2. Kicking a dude in the head when he's down is not cool. Remember Suh stomping Dietrich-Smith? Plus, precedent has shown that throwing a closed fist punch is gonna be at least a 1 game suspension.

Rudolph should get suspended too -- the hit on him by Garrett was late and unnecessary, but so was going after his helmet like that. He more or less escalated things by doing that, and then went after Garrett like a dumbass after DeCastro got between them. Walk away, the game is over.

By the way, I think DeCastro did the correct thing by basically taking down Garrett and laying on him IMO vs. punching/kicking him like Pouncey. You gotta protect your QB, but with how the league cracks down on this stuff, throwing punches is dumb.

There were some really ugly hits in this game and I think it boiled over in a bad way. The hit on JuJu was bad, and the hit by Randall on Johnson that caused a concussion/visible ear bleeding was scary. You could hear the helmets crack...I'd be pissed if Eddie Jackson did that to a Packer receiver. That was an ugly game and a nationally televised eyesore for the NFL.

Apparently youth participation in football is down in many states, not sure this is going to help change that.

That what I saw also. The only reason he hit him with that part was because of how he held it. Flipped around would have been much more crushing. You can see Rudolph’s neck compress a bit. Even looked like he was trying to stretch his neck to the side after.

As for Rudolph’s behavior. I saw it live and replay showed Garrett mugging him on the ground first well after the takedown and appeared he was talking shit. Rudolph’s helmet pull was in a get the fuck off me way. After that is was brawl time. I don’t see why Rudolph coming for his helmet is an issue.

As for the stomping on Garrett, you whackasses would be cheering if someone did that for Rodgers. I would too.

I think Garrett's helmet swing was bad but not impeachable.

I guess I would see it differently if it were a bit more successful, but the QB was laughing about it a few minutes later. Boys will be boys. Two-game suspension for going nuts.

I have laughed about it after many injuries. Sometimes it was a can’t believe I didn’t get killed way or a can’t believe that shit just happened. Typically while calming down so likely a nerves thing.

This has to be about as bad as it gets from the NFL's perspective. They have 2 items on their safety agenda. Protect quarterbacks, and reduce concussions. So ripping off a QB's helmet and hitting him over the head with it is pretty incredible. That said, Rudolf was not an innocent victim here. There could be discipline against him too.

The mofo was on top of him and not letting up so don’t see why Rudolph would get anything more then a fine. It would be different if they both had been standing up actively engaging. But it looked like Garrett was trash talking and holding him down. Seemed more defensive to me.
