  • Th official Packers Chargers Gameday thread!

Bobblehead is running a little late this morning. He got caught up in a home brew poker game last night that had some live fish and didn't get to sleep until ... wait, he didn't sleep. This is why the responsibility of the gameday thread is something Bobble doesn't particularly care for.

Bobble is also talking 3rd person because he watched Bo Jackson recently.

Speaking of great running backs how fucking awesome is it seeing Aaron Jones do it all under Flowers leadership. I'm thinking Kenyon Drake might have been a good rental protection against injury and overuse. Oh well...the Cardinals grabbed him to make their playoff push..wtf did I just type?

Matter at hand. The Chargers. The road portion of our schedule is carrying on with a long flight to LA. The chargers have been good this year...and really bad depending on which game you saw Jeckyll or Hyde. There was a time when I said you absolutely can't blitz Rivers or Rodgers. Both had a wicked fast release and an uncanny ability to read and break down the blitz in about .5 seconds. That was a younger Rivers though and he has been more susceptible in years past. He now looks right to his stable of RBs that has former standout Badgers, Melvin Gordon back as lead horse.

This would be a game that professional sports bettors call a trap. Out of conference game against a team that isn't playing well, but has enough talent to take you down a point. That being said, more sharp money is on GB -3.5 than is on SD. Seems Packer fans aren't the only ones drinking the kool aid!! Add in the chargers are determined to be a shitshow in a temporary stadium and waste the twilight of Rivers career and I think the packers should win this one.

    1) The GOAT: We got Rodgers fully bought into the Flower offense. Bobblehead is loving it.
    2) The D: This isn't quite the 2010 D, but its the best product we have seen in a long time.
    3) The OL: What a difference real Guards and a healthy Bulaga make. This unit is run and pass blocking at a very high level.
    4) The fans. I have been to a couple Packer Charger games in SD and we always are just as loud as their west coast pussies.
    5) The curse: Bobble desperately wants to ditch the responsibility of gameday thread so when he boozes it up at a poker table all night he can come home, bang the wife and sleep before the packer game. Instead he is doing this stupid thread while the wife headed to the gym so now he has to surf porn before grabbing a nap!!

    Packers 37-17 in a route.

    Take it away Captain!

    Chargers OL getting healthy
    Gordon getting in a groove
    Henry getting healthy

They’re still missing their two starting interior DL

The Charger offense is sneaky good because they’re just getting all their pieces in place. The defense is sorely missing the interior guys. We should win, but the Chargers are poised to get all the way back and upset someone. I’m hoping the D gets healthy for the Viking game. As soon as those guys are back, assuming the rest of the team keeps getting/staying healthy too, I’m looking forward to a good Chargers bet!

The sports bettor in me doesn’t care who LAC get healthy for. But the Packer fan in me wants to LOL at the Vikings so I’m really hoping they get it lined up for that game!

You caught my omission of Henry as the 3rd straight really good TE we have to face. And Rivers looks to him often. Rivers also doesn't go deep as much as he used to. I have Henry starting in fantasy, but still hoping Pettine has figured out how to stop a TE.

Chargers can score and have a TE. Gonna be closer than it should since offense will start a little slow.

            27-23 Packers

Early in the season they didn’t have Gordon, Henry or 2 starting OL. Now all are back for a game or two and just getting Rolling. Defense still missing 2 interior DL. I can’t wait for them to get healthy on D. Im lining up my bets now.

I’m very curious how AR and ThaFloweur handle a primarily zone defense. I could see MVS breaking loose behind their safeties.

Safeties that get beat deep in a zone (unless you are a Packer backup safety where it is part of the job description) aren't worth the money you are paying them. You can scheme it, but I wonder if they believe that much in MVS breaking one open? Rodgers has underthrown a couple to him.

Another game where Trevor Davis' incongruent ability to sit down in a zone will be missed.

Jamaal Williams looked really tough and agile on the redzone block where he lead the way for Jones. Tonyan looks that way too. I’m curious to see if ThaFloweur finds a way to get those two guys moving downhill, paving the way in some creative runs.

He has 9 40+ yard receptions in the last two years. He has 5 this year, 2nd in NFL. He’s been very effective for two years getting big plays.

Last year in the 2nd half of the year at Tennessee, LaFleur used Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis together a lot in the backfield. Expect to see Jones and Williams in there a lot together.

I still say it isn't so much Aaron Rodgers buying into ...... as it is LaFleur's offense being adapted to his GOAT QB. Either way, if it continues - and it should - it's a beautiful thing.

Rodgers' escapability will be tested, but he should find a lot of open receivers - more than last week. I think the Chargers watched enough game film that they will use a DB on Jones/Williams, but that will just open up something else. Hopefully, LaFleur/Rodgers are creative enough to figure it out.

Our DBs are gonna need to be sharp, because we probably need to pack the front seven to stop the run again.

Joe, we've already been seeing a lot of Williams and Jones in there together - like several big plays last week.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

This perfectly describes my dislike of FF. As if anyone cares.
