Back to arguing with Harv.

At the snap, Packers slant to their right. Puts Clark in the Defense's right A gap, Martinez has left A gap and Dr. Smith has the left B gap.

Ekeler will go through Martinez and ZaSmiths gaps then cut back toward Clark after he hits the whole.

Originally, this is where I thought Dr. Zaius lost. He is engulfed with no free arm or angle to his B gap (to his right, offenses left). Martinez is reading but not crashing which will soon be a problem. Clark definitely does take a hard charging slant to his right. Harv is not entirely wrong, this looks weird. But maybe they were running a stunt?

Gary (offenses left) gets penetration but he is walled off of the backside of the play. Seeing how the OG plays him, he should fight back across that guy or chase down the line. Rivers isn't going to boot to the QB left successfully.

Here is where I missed the play. Dr. Zaius has freed his right side to play his B gap. Martinez is stuck in no man's land. He has not defeated the block not gotten inside it. He is so deep, he is essentially giving the RB a two way go.

Clark is too wide and isn't helping Martinez here at all squeezing either A gap. But he is in his gap even if its not ideal.

Its not the worst run D they have played. Its a good setup versus a short run. But with Martinez off the LOS and Clark wide, the RB cuts off of Dr. Zaius (looks like the target hole) and cuts across Blake for an easy conversion.

This is another example where penetration by half the line hurts rather than helps the run D.

Packers will still play a lot of good ball this year. But this is the kind of game that tells you they are not good enough to win a championship.

Sheeeeeeeesh! Would you say the same about the Patriots based on how they played today? The Vikings? Seattle played like crap and barely survived - how about them?

I think it was upset Sunday. Even Miami won. At a minimum, it wasn't the NFCN's day.
