Wist hates his lack of football instinct from the word go. And ‘Cheat absolutely demolished him on the first drive at NE. They had to pull him from the game. I thought he might be decent in coverage of TE and RBs but honestly since he’s been back he has had limited snaps and has been as invisible as the baconator. I think he’s somewhat effective on STs but haven’t watched terribly closely.

Burks best aspect right now is pursuit. Its not enough.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

One gunner looked alive and well last week. Did not catch the player though.

As useless as some of the bottom-of-roster guys are, you wonder if it would have been worth it to keep Janis just to be a gunner. He single-handedly often wrecked the other team's returns.

Not sure who you'd make a game-day inactive in order to get such a specialist on the field.

At this point, after how many special team coaches since McCarthy started? Four?

Its the front office. Not the coaches. And its possible that "churning the bottom of the roster" is hurting, rather than helping ST, including the decision to jettison Janis.

All Time Packer Roster is broken. So from memory: Slocum, Mennega, Zook, Mike Stock

            Where have you gone,

Two ships passing in the night

              Tom Silverstein @TomSilverstein
Former #Dolphins special teams coach Darren Rizzi left Green Bay without a contract. It’s likely he’s weighing his offers, but apparently the #Packers didn’t make him one he couldn’t refuse or he wouldn’t have left. Also, #Dolphins WRs coach Shawn Jefferson interviewed Tuesday.

Rizzi is in NO. NO ranks 14, GB 20 in Special Teams.

              Its the players.

I would take a #14 ranking right now. Just that much difference in field position on both sides makes a big difference.

I bet the difference is entirely attributable to Taysom Hill.

Offense is what it is. Solid OL. HOF QB, two good, young but experienced running backs who can attack in various ways. Experienced, steady but unspectacular tight ends. One top WR and a mixture of just guys... They’re not gonna break any records, but they have a bunch of things they do well so they can take what’s given and score points. I’d call them a top 10 offense.

Defensively, they’re very young so are still making some mistakes. They’ve shown big play potential with turnovers, 3rd down defense and redzone defense. They’re about a middle of the road defense right now but I can picture them gelling together and improving even as this season continues to unfold. I could see them pick it up and finish in the top 10 as well.

Scott, Crosby and Bradley give the Packers a good ST base. They can improve even as this year unfolds as well.

My hope is the offense keeps doing what it’s done in the month of October. The defense and STs improve. We’ll see. This Packer team still has a shot.

Sanfran has Seattle, Arizona, Packers, Ravens, Saints in the next 5 weeks.

We should know if a bye week is realistic sooner than later.

I was trying to be optimistic about this game - facing a young QB who was undrafted (like Timmy Boyle!), playing at home. Then I saw this line in a JSO article about the game: "The Panthers run a 4-3 scheme and are bigger upfront than recent teams the Packers have played, so expect to see some runs to the outside."

Expect to see some runs outside? Great. The very thing the Packers seem worst at doing offensively.

They're gonna drop this game, and when they finish 7-9 you'll all be apologizing to me for not believing that this is a rebuilding year and they don't have the horses. The second-year flops of Burks and Josh Jackson are hurting, especially Burks, as had the non-emergence of Rashan Gary, who trails former teammate and third round pick Chase Winovich in sacks, QB hits, tackles, and everything else, and also trails Brian Burns in those categories.

One GB writer thinks that Gary will eventually become an inside rusher only. Well, if that writer is correct, they better send Gary to the weight room this offseason and hope for the best. All I can tell you is the guy was physically supposedly way, way better than his opponents, but he did not produce. And a lot of Rats responded by making excuses - oh, he was double-teamed all the time was one. Is he being double-teamed now? I'd guess no. As far as his developing over time, I don't know enough, really, to know if that's happening, but he looks to me just like he did at Michigan - not much of an impact.

I suspect the KR/PR performance of Sheppard is weighing the ST rankings down. I'd also expect that at this point in the season there's enough film on ST's for teams to look at and poke holes in protections. Scott has had a few dud punts but not as bad as last year. I think it's a lull he'll work out of. Crosby has been solid (knock on wood). Coverage and protections could definitely be better, but the biggest thing is the poor return game.

If you ain't scared of McCaffrey, you ain't paying attention. He's averaging over 110 yds rushing, 45 yds receiving and 1.5 TDs/game. He leads the league in yards from scrimmage. Hopefully he doesn't make our LBs look how Jones made Dallas' look.
I'm kinda thinking CM3 is gonna win me the high game by a RB pool in my fantasy this week as he pretty much exploits everything our D does wrong. Flip side is that the same is true of our offense v. their D. Bet the over.

I have KC+6.5 over titans. Tyreek hill was out weeks 2-5. Hill came back part time in week 6. Then Mahomes was out since.

This is the first time KCs offense has had a healthy Mahomes and Tyreek Hill since week 1. Their division is heating up. I expect them to hold nothing back from here on out. I bet on a blow out and feel pretty good about it. There might be a slight learning curve getting them back so maybe it doesn’t go as well as I hope, but Mahomes has been moving around and throwing the last few weeks so I do expect him to just pick right up.
