Fuckin hate this. For those saying trade Rodgers, is he even tradable given the cap hit they'd take? I think the answer is no

Maybe, my Packer fan buddy just said it might light a fire under Rodgers ass which could be true. That's a high price to light a fire. That said, if they think this guy is the shit then it makes sense like the Rodgers pick, right? What I've read is the guy has physical tools and bad decisions which could be corrected I guess.

Brett Favre had a similar scouting report and he was taken early in the 2nd and traded for a 1st. I wish we hadn't traded up to get him, but I kind of understand the pick.

Probably worried about the teams at the top of the second round trading up. I'm not enamored. Love better be the heir apparent, and a good one. If they go from Favre to Rodgers to a Pro Bowl caliber QB, they'll look like genuises. Otherwise, wasted pick. We'll see. It will be a long time before we know if this was the right move. Just like the Rodgers move. Love was not good in 2019, but he basically lost every starter on offense. He went from 33 TDs-6 ints in 2018 to 20 TDs-17 ints in 2019.

I kind of liked his talent. If it's two years from now I might even like the pick. We're not nearly good enough to be in the build for the future mode.

Football IQ - He's a "see ball, attack ball" defender who thrives when he's given the chance to react instead of anticipate. His sense of navigating gaps and attack forward is boosted by some slippery habits and potent first step, not necessarily because he has the fastest trigger or play diagnosis skills.

Tackling - His range is top shelf and his exposure to playing in the wide open BIG 12 has forced him into covering a lot of turf. His angles in lateral pursuit aren't always super consistent and he can be guilty of coming down the LOS too flat and overrunning the play. He's got explosive pads and sufficient wrap up skill.

Block Shedding - Fairly ineffective here, wasn't given a lot of reps where he was stepping down into blocks and actually challenging blockers. He's slippery and does well to drop the shoulder or shoot across the face but if you run down hill at him, he's going to struggle to stack up and hold his gap.

Competitive Toughness - High motor defender who flies all over the field and brings consistent pursuit skills. He's fairly dense and carries his weight well, offering some notable hitting power as he looks to prevent extra yards after contact. He's not the most potent plug defender, through — OL will give him troubles.

Lateral Mobility - Has sideline to sideline ability and the short area juice to embarrass blockers that don't feel or anticipate him crashing the party. He's fairly fluid in underneath drops as a zone defender, too. Loose hips to open and buzz as needed to cut off the ball or ball carriers alike.

Coverage Skills - Predominantly a short spaces defender — wouldn't put a lot of turn and run reps or man coverage on his plate. His best asset on passing downs is as a QB spy or when he serves as a pressure player. He has the physical tools to improve as a hash defender in zone over top of the slot, but expect growing pains there.

Gap Shooting Skills - When he sees a lane develop, he's through it before you know what hit you. He's got a really fun first step and his slashing style will create a lot of splash plays for any team that can find the balance of working him close to the LOS without having him worry about bumping heads with OL at the point of attack.

Feet/COD - Fluid athlete. Natural mover that has change of direction you'd expect from a defender that is 20 pounds lighter. That's his most appealing quality — he's able to transition and trigger very quickly and covers a lot of space thanks to explosive first step out of his read.

Flexibility - Fluid body control whose errors and missed tackles come more from a lack of discipline than they do any movement restrictions. He's pretty clean to drop his hips and gear down or tilt off his base and carry speed through his turns as he pressures the pocket or plays off the backside as a pursuit defender against the run.

First Step Explosiveness - Potent. He's got a lot of bounce and his ability to drive off the second level and still beat offensive linemen to the spot is pretty impressive. He'll bring an impact to a hybrid defense as an attack player on 3rd downs if he's let off the leash and encouraged to attack the pocket on a regular basis.

Summary - Jordyn Brooks projects as a sub-package defender at the NFL level. Working Brooks into a 3-down role is likely to require him to play the WILL, where his range and short area quickness can be amplified without tasking him to address blockers with consistency. Brooks' game is predicated around playing in space and being slippery to attack the LOS — his best value comes as a QB spy or blitz player. He's a fairly visual defender, so giving him free roaming reps is a must for best results.

CONF SEC - West JERSEY #8 CLASS Junior HT 6'1" DOB 08/13/1999 WT 227 lbs

Tackling: Admirable explosiveness into the contact point with great technique. Coils and unlocks his hips to explode through his target and brings his feet with his hips to drive through power and ensure he doesn't get knocked back. Is rarely ran over despite having average mass; good density in his frame helps. Has poor length and accordingly struggles with dragdown tackles outside of his frame, which limits the value of his range, as his tackle radius outside of his frame is small.

Range: Highly bursty player in tight areas with good long speed to the poles. Has excellent peripheral vision to sniff out boundary plays and rarely false steps downhill to sharpen his angles into the sideline. Has a decent second gear to close into the contact point without spiraling out of control, but at times will over-pursue into the boundary and allow for upfield cuts.

Block Deconstruction: Difficult to tag in space for plodding offensive linemen and highly aggressive and proactive in destroying blocks before they get established. Squares his hips into climbers and attacks wrist/elbow weak points to deny opponents; drops hips and fires into pullers/kick out blocks with ideal leverage without fail and squeezes interior gaps. Can snatch tight ends on the boundary and has excellent quickness and flexibility to shuck initial. context and present quickly in gaps as runners get upfield.

Toughness: Gritty dude who is limited by his sub-average size, but plays with admirable toughness. Throws his body downfield into contact when addressing pullers and kick-out blocks and has impressive second/third effort plays fighting through contact to control gaps or get involved in tackles. Loves to be the fill defender and will shoot tackles with a ton of physicality and stopping power.

Mental Processing: He might be a genius. Multiple reps per game of him moving in concert with, or even ahead of, offensive linemen on running concepts. Multiple examples of deciphering read option action from the second level and stymying number advantages for the offense by getting significantly ahead of blocks and forcing runners back into help. Regularly occupies underneath throwing windows and understands how to bail after RPO/PAP action to take away the first read.

Decision-making: His ability to interpret backfield action and get to the right spot is pretty shocking, especially when you consider how little starting experience he has under his belt. Occasionally plays himself out of position when he's making pre-snap reads, but the negatives are far outweighed by the positives. Ability to adjust on the fly post-snap and exchange responsibilities as a fill or short zone defender is elite. Generates key defensive plays (TFLs, INTs) by rapidly working through his keys and getting a step ahead of offenses -- is very difficult to manipulate or displace.

Short Area Quickness: Near-elite agility for the position gives him quality plays both outside and within the tackle box. Critical ability to slip blockers in tight areas and retain enough balance and surface area to make a tackle is a product of his flexibility and quickness. Mirroring quickness on the second level allows him to work through the trash and slip through tight alleyways to present in the backfield. Can match routes in space with good footwork and body positioning.

Man Cover Ability: Matches from the overhang without issues. Ability to get connected on rail/flat/wheel concepts on backs gives him the opportunity to make PBU/INT plays -- great at flipping his head and locating the football for his experience level. Will get caught peeking into the backfield at times and should become more comfortable reading through routes without reading the QB.

Zone Cover Ability: Highly adept zone cover defender who overlaps short zones with ease and makes high-quality plays accordingly. Splits routes developing in his area and will bait QBs into ill-advised throws. Will open his hips the wrong way at times which is likely an overreaction to QB drops and a result of inexperienced play. Will arrive to the catchpoint with velocity to generate PBUs.

Summary: Patrick Queen is a quality Day 1 linebacker for a team hunting an every down MIKE or WILL at the NFL level. Queen's football intelligence and reactionary quickness are off the charts, and his nose for misdirection and intermediate routes has shocking instincts for only a one-year starter. Queen has near-elite quickness with quality flexibility and play strength to dodge blocks in tight areas and present in gaps, and has a high incidence of backfield tackles given his explosiveness and strength, as well as his diagnosing ability. Queen is a stubbier player with an average tackle radius, and his size will have him losing to power in the trenches, but players with this blend of quickness, toughness, and instincts don't come by every draft class. He is a high-ceiling NFL linebacker with an ideal skillset for the modern NFL.
