Agreed. The FBs in this offense are often glorified TEs anyways. Justin Griffith, down in Atlanta, is a good fit for the scheme. He's a better receiver than blocker.

I sense Gado will be getting a little more work at FB. Wonder if he's second guessing himself in regard to letting the Poop go. I thought he was a FB as well as RB.

I'm utterly amazed at what Ted is doing now. Releasing Vonta wasn't the answer MJ, as now were worse off in OUR blocking.

He had to release a TEand i would have let David Martin go. He'll have a surprise injury on Sunday. LOL

Samkon Gado is the BEST choice as backup at FB MJ, assuming that Hendo will be ready to start "the Saints Game" Sunday.

I'm absolutely shocked that we may see Koren Robinson in OUR Game Plan Vs. "the Saints".

after thinking about this a bit more (id like to take back my hell yez comment), im aligning myself more on the side of people saying this is a big mistake. im not a leach fan because of his inability to catch anything but he CAN block and lets be honest, david martin is a much better cut than this guy... especially considering our lack of *capable* depth in the backfield.

I have not watched the FB very closely but I am still surprised that Leach was released, especially after considering that Nick Luchey and Vonta Leach were supposedly being groomed to replace the aging Henderson.

I hope that TT does not place the same level of emphasis on the FB position as he has the Guard position. With a shaky O-line, Brett and the RB's need all the blocking that they can get.

My thoughts exactly. And Hendo is a game time decision as it stands - maybe we continue to go to the double TE sets with that funky motion on runs, too.

They used Martin in the backfield as a FB quite a bit in Sunday's game. I'm guessing they will continue to go that route in order to keep the "best" players....

Vonta Leach was a very good true fullback. Fullback's block, that's what they do. Hell, The last carry that Henderson got he fumbled it! Henderson though is that special kind of player that most teams don't have. He has lost a step but he will give you everything he's got. He is a great receiver as well and Leach didn't hold up to that part of the game very well, but Leach is a better blocker then Henderson, today. In Henderson's prime Leach wasn't as good as Henderson. I think keeping 4 TE's is a stupid stupid coaching move. Gado, Heron and Martin at FB? None of those three would even make the roster for most average to good teams. Now we are counting on them blocking for Green and Favre? The best blocking TE we have is Franks. Gado is a north and south tank but is a #3 back at best and hasn't really caught on the the RB position let alone the FB. Heron is another #3 back at best and is too small to be a good FB. Martin has been around for years and he has always been bad to below average. Davenport anyone? He was a fullback in college, we should never have cut the guy. So we gave a roster spot to a temporary WR?

In Bob McGinn's game analysis today, he said the Packers should consider starting Leach ahead of Henderson because of his blocking. I beleive TT cut Leach because he is still pissed at McGinn's merciless criticism on Sunday about TT's oline GM work.

I think a team hurting for offense, with weak pass protection, can't afford to keep a fullback who can't catch a swing pass.
