So he’s the fair-haired boy this week, but like with all field goal kickers he’s just as good as his last boot.
Been with the team since 2007, he’s our longest tenured player.
He hits 81.9% of his attempts, but in 2012 he completely lost his stroke hitting only “a 63.6 field-goal percentage. This was the lowest field goal percentage for any active kicker in the league in the 2012 season.

Last night’s Field Goal was a beauty that beat the 49ers in San Francisco .

What’s your thoughts on the guy?

He's gotten more reliable as he's gotten older. He kicks in a rougher climate than some of his peers, so that will be a factor in the raw numbers. Since about 2015 he's been one of the most clutch kickers in the playoffs, which also counts for something.

Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

Packer fans are spoiled by their kickers. Since 1989, with the exception of 2006 (Dave Rayner), Packers have had Chris Jacke, Ryan Longwell and Crosby as their kickers.

I'm ashamed to say I was one of his detractors, not only in 2012 or whenever it was that he was so awful. I figured (and still do to some extent) that it just isn't that hard to find a good kicker. With well over 100 college programs, and at least 1/4 of them graduating kickers each year, you ought to be able to bring in a "kicker caravan" as the old time Cowboys called it, and find somebody with at least as strong a leg as Crosby and about as accurate.

The guy is becoming a legend, though, with his consistency and quality under pressure, as well as his balls in making a tackle if needed - the "anti-J.K. Scott".

He's not getting worse, and maybe even is getting better with age. Stenerud and Viniteri were good to 5-10 years older than Crosby is now, so I say keep him.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

He’s very good and clutch, but I am concerned that he’s lost some leg strength and doesn’t get as many touchbacks as he used to. With our special teams that’s a recipe for disaster.

He got two 50 yard FGs last night, so that's good enough on leg strength for me. I think sometimes they tell him to kick it to the goal line to try to pin the other team deep. It would be a smart call if the coverage wasn't so poor.

He is a badass. Sadly his days are numbered and we'll probably be missing his game winners sooner than we'd like.

Crosby could exit the league in the top 10 in league history for points scored if he could gather another 212 points this year and next. It is a travesty that he hasn't earned a Pro Bowl nod during his career. He's never really been the best kicker in the league, but he's been one of the top five for nearly 15 years running, and will be one of the few kickers to play his entire career for one team... Jason Hanson is the other guy that comes to mind, and Tucker prob will for Baltimore.

You could make the case he was the best kicker last season, at least in the NFC.

Two streaks of 20+ successful kicks ain't shabby. He certainly couldn't have done anything else last year to prove his dominance...other than stop Adams from scoring TDs.

How many kickers would we rather have?

Not being snarky, I just don't pay THAT much attention, because he's so money.

I'm guessing you'd only take a handful over him.

Don't forget the Golden Boy. The Green and Gold has been really good on kicker picks and for me they are a critical part of the game. They might however work on tackling when he's at the mercy of a returner.

Since that game in 2018, only Tucker. I think Boswell is pretty good but had one bad season. Prater and McManus?

One argument for Crosby over Tucker is playoff kicking. Crosby is 30 for 33 and Tucker is 14 for 18. I didn't evaluate any of the misses, so maybe Tucker took a chance on a 60 yarder at the end of a half.
