So if you offer him the vet minimum, OBJ still gets 4.25 million - your team pays the vet minimum, and the Browns cover the rest. You pay OBJ 3 million, and again, your team pays that amount, and the Browns pony up for the rest up to that 4.25 million mark.

So unless a team wants to offer OBJ over 4.25 million for the rest of the year, then OBJ's choice won't be about the money but about where he wants to play. Sounds like it's either KC, NO, or GB.
Actually, your source erred. There’s no offsetting voodoo.

OBJ’s restructured contract with Cleveland prior to his release calls for OBJ to get “termination” pay, meaning whichever team OBJ signs with next, he gets to “double-dip.” In other words, OBJ gets the 4.25 M PLUS whatever his new team pays him. If, say, Pack sign OBJ for $1M for the rest of the season, OBJ gets $5.25M.

Note that Cleveland saved about $3M in cash via the restructure and OBJ’s subsequent release. Unless he can get somebody to pay him $3M for 8 or 9 games, OBJ actually will lose frogskins.

Here's the quote from the article by "Tex" Western of the Acme Packing Company:

"Given the context of Beckham’s contract with the Cleveland Browns, which was just terminated when he cleared waivers on Tuesday, the Packers and other teams around the NFL have no reason to offer him more than that minimum. This is because his Browns contract has offset language in it, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Browns owe Beckham $4.25 million (down from $7.25 million, thanks to a deal they made with him prior to waiving him), but the amount Cleveland owes will be reduced by whatever compensation he receives from a new team over the remainder of this season.

Therefore, Beckham will get paid the same amount whether he were to sign in Green Bay for the veteran minimum or elsewhere, unless another team signs him to a contract worth more than the $4.25 million that the Browns owe."

So what is the source for your information? Maybe it's a better source. Where'd your info come from?

So he's getting the money from the Browns no matter what, and everything he gets from the new team is gravy. That probably eliminates the Saints since they have no room with the cap.

Sounds like he’s going to the Rams

I don't really care if we get him; I kind of hope he goes to New England so nobody we could play gets a competitive advantage

I don’t think you can lay any blame at the Packers feet if OBJ chooses to go elsewhere.

Same risk as brining on Andre Bad Moon Rison; he could blow up the chemistry of the team iMO

Short term reward but there is character risk here

Rams have announced, renounced and re-announced signing him

Let OBJ go implode one of our direct competitors like he has every other team he has been part of.

Did the Rams also offer the vet minimum? if so, it's obvious: LA > GB nightlife.
