  • Very sad news about Jackson. Stupid drunk drivers, how is it they cause all kinds of deaths and usually survive? Grrr. Call an Uber, you dumbass!

Jackson was a big corner who would have at least been good depth for the Vikes. Losing a R4 pick like that stinks.

Yeah - stay off the roads at 3am.

There's a football adage that it's better to be the one doing the hitting than the one being hit. Drunk drivers are usually the ones doing the hitting and cars are designed with the best protection for front end collisions. Booze also shuts off good judgement, so unless they prepare to not drive before they start drinking heavily, and unless someone stops them, they will get behind the wheel.

I wish this will be the last time we post about an NFL player being killed by a drunk driver (or killing someone by driving drunk) but I think my wish for winning the lottery has better odds.

i watch a lot of youtube videos. we need way harsher penalties for drunk driving

thats not a political statement, is it?
Don’t be a dumbass. This is a valid NFL topic and has been for a long time. Usually it is the NFL player doing the DUI. This situation is different and extra sad. Young guy about to live his dream cut down over someone’s bad choice. You are right that they don’t do shit to people for DUIs until they kill someone.

        • 5 days after Khyree Jackson dies in a car crash, Viking teammate Jordan Addison is arrested on suspicion of DUI for being found asleep in a car, blocking a lane on the highway. Feels pretty tone deaf.

Addison was busted for going 140 last year. Heaven forbid you put him, Jalen Carter, and Rashee Rice on a team.

Somebody needs to take away his car keys and install the Uber app on his phone.

                • Brandon Aiyuk has officially told 49ers he wants a trade. He is in the last year of his contract and has a 14.1M base salary.

                  • No thanks, Brandon. We've got 3, 4, maybe 5 better WRs than him, and combined, I don't think their salaries are as much as his.

I'm so tempted to make a joke ..... but I don't want to get suspended.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

                      • Aiyuk is a good player and will draw interest but only if they can work out a contract extension. GB will not be interested in him, given they have plenty of cheap good talent and a QB to pay.

They are really asking for it with their workhorse McCaffery on the Madden cover.

                            • It's a team in win-now mode. They have a lot of players on second contracts and they have to strike while Purdy is cheap. Once they pay him they won't be able to afford shelling out as many big deals to the likes of CMC, Deebo, Kittle, Warner, Bosa, their OL, etc.
They drafted Ricky Pearsall, who I think is a pretty good receiver, and have enough other weapons to make a Shanahan offense work without Aiyuk. He's a pretty good player; seems like he wants $ more than a ring, but I understand getting paid while you can. This is likely his best chance at breaking the bank.

Not GB's problem. If PIT or BUF or some other team wants to spend a high draft pick for the opportunity to pay Aiyuk a premium-level WR contract extension, more power to them. That's bad process. He's not Davante or Jefferson or Tyreek, and trading draft picks to extend a player is a waste of resources.

                              • I wonder if Detroit will poke around him; they've got St. Brown and a sketchy Jameson Williams and a bunch of guys.

With all the hype surrounding Detroit, I wonder if the GM, Brad Holmes, is feeling a bit of pressure to win now. Goff's not going to get better and better - they have to strike while the iron is hot.
