A shame that our timing never lines up with elite DCs being available. I would say that unless Halfwits D really comes on as they get used to the scheme I would replace him with Saleh in a heartbeat. If you're not improving you're getting worse and Saleh as a DC is an improvement over almost anyone.

Wait, Kyler Murray is Korean?Originally posted by Joemailman View PostHe is of Lebanese origin. He would sometimes wear a Lebanese flag patch on his sleeve. Other coaches have done the same thing. The NFL encourages it.
As we continue to prioritize the NFL's growth globally, we're proud to have our players and coaches honor their backgrounds through the NFL Heritage Program. This initiative allows us to celebrate the heritage, families and cultures that make up the fabric of the League, and truly showcases the growing global reach and impact of the sport of football and the NFL.
Other players and coaches who have taken part in the wearing of a sticker or patch include former head coach Bill Belichick (Croatia), quarterback Kyler Murray (South Korea), tight end Dalton Kincaid (Canada), wide receiver DJ Moore (Jamaica), wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (Germany) and Giants head coach Brian Daboll (Canada).
What’s next, Josh Jacobs is Filipino and Jordan Love is French?

With titanic TV contracts, the Packers certainly can afford to terminate Hafley prematurely. But would it be financially sound to terminate an assistant a year after you paid him a pretty penny to leave a head coaching gig at a Power 5 school?Originally posted by bobblehead View PostA shame that our timing never lines up with elite DCs being available. I’d rather cut Cletidus Clark. And besides, nepotism typically produces pretty shitty results in the NFL. Just ask J-Mac.

It just makes zero sense on its face. The defense was playing pretty well. The offense, outside the NE game, was sputtering and lurching, thanks to what most NFL observers see as a simplistic offense designed so Rodgers can run his last second mumbo jumbo hand gestures, foot flicks and subtle nods to cue the offense to the adjustments his brilliant mind wanted them to make. Hackett has zero credibility, has produced shit results, yet the interim coach assured everyone no offensive coach is being demoted or fired.
When Saleh drew Rodgers’s ire and Saleh had to backtrack (“oh no, there’s no controversy between us, no no no”), he was showing us all the power dynamic in New York. He was a lame duck, serving at Rodgers’s whim. And since Rodgers can’t really take responsibility or admit he’s wrong, then someone had to pay for the offense’s lethargic play.
Now I hope they trade for Davante Adams, give up too much for him, and still suck."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

We don't know if Rodgers had anything to do with it. It's not like the Jets weren't a dysfunctional organization before they signed Rodgers.I can't run no more

He is. They are probably going to have to hire a coach before they know if Rodgers is going to play another year. Will they be telling coaching candidates that they have to keep Hackett as OC? It is a mess.Originally posted by red View Postwho the hell would ever be dumb enough to take a job there?

Maybe, maybe not. Nobody is going to publicly say it.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostWe don't know if Rodgers had anything to do with it. It's not like the Jets weren't a dysfunctional organization before they signed Rodgers.
I highly doubt they would fire the coach without running it past Rodgers.
Making that assumption, one can easily jump to the conclusion that if Hackett's job was on the line and Rodgers had to pick a side that he'd go with his buddy.
The chemistry with Rodgers and Saleh was a little weird anyway.
Saleh was 20-36 which is worse than many of the Jets coaches: Mangini, etc. (he looked pretty good compared to Adam Gase.) but I think he was hampered by the Zach Wilson era. Falls into the meh HC, good DC. He'll probably get another shot at HC in a few years if he plays things right, and with luck does better. You really need a good QB to succeed, and I'm not sure Rodgers is that anymore...certainly not with Hackett running a what some are calling a variation of a McCarthy offense.
That whole scene is a mess, from the owner down.

My very uninformed take: Woody Johnson was really the driving force behind the Jets trading for Rodgers. He knows Rodgers wants Hackett here. He wants Rodgers back next year. So when he learned that Saleh was considering dumping Hackett, (or reducing Hackett's role) he chose Hackett or Saleh. He didn't need to talk to Rodgers about it.I can't run no more
