He’s no saint. After Favre I decided to never idolize these guys. Case in point when I met Majik man at bar a few weeks ago. He’s just a flawed and broken human.

Me / I like Aaron. I like his life philosophy and his approach to the game. He’s a prick of a son/friend and likely has some mental health issues but he’s got a high Iq/Eq.

I just don’t understand the disdain. Favre played the I’m retired/not for 3 years, flew back to GB and forced his way to NY and the MN to stick it to GB. Rodgers did it way faster and way above board.

sad really is, if karen hadn't blown out her achilles last season, the jets would have imploded last season. saleh would have been fired last year and we probably would have hired him in a heartbeat to be our new DC

and we would have gotten a first round pick instead of a second

And this is the only thing I care about. How did it all affect my team. The jets were a mess long before Erin. They are a mess with Erin. They will be a mess when he is gone. He's ok for a non packer and I don't hate on him like most around here, but I don't miss him either. He was on the wrong side of father time and I'm glad we got some capital for him.

Most don't hate him. They don't worship him and put the Packers first. No where near the same as hate.

We should do a poll. I think its around 50/50. I think he gets a worse rap than he deserves from many. I can pinpoint when/where/why the narrative began that he was a selfish prick. I can't agree or disagree. He is likely sort of a selfish prick, but so are most of them. How about the stunt Jaire pulled, or Doubs. As you said, Packers first. I've advocated for trading Jaire, and now Doubs. They aren't for the team. Thats ok when your play is great and you aren't HARMING the team, but when you cross that line I think culture REALLY matters.

Rodgers at this point is old and not "part" of the team. He isn't relating to most of the young guys (he has this funny notion that they should be held accountable and learn the game). Next thing you know he is going to do something totally unprecedented and demand his own lockers separate from the main locker room. I didn't mind Rodgers and his foibles when he was winning MVPs. But for me the day I turned on him was when he didn't try to run for the TD on 2nd or 3rd down against TB with the Owl on the line, then he whined we kicked the FG (as did most of the Rodgers loving fans who were all on board when he was winning MVPs). I realized right then that he valued self preservation more than he valued a Lombardi Trophy. I was ready to move on.

Why mention me? I really don't give a shit one way or the other about Saleh or his firing.

As for Rodgers, and Favre too, they gave all of us combined 30 or so excellent years. Anything beyond that is irrelevant. I'd expect certain ingrates/dumbasses in here to whine about either or both because they're that disloyal and/or stupid about various other things too.

Hahaha! That got you huh Tex?

I think we should all start telling each other “Ok Tex” when we don’t agree with something.

I've never understood why it is "disloyal", "stupid" or any other negative quality to recognize that an athlete, who may have been exceptional at his craft, has many negative qualities as a person. Sorry, no athlete gets a free pass from me for abhorrent behavior just because he may have been one of the best ever to suit up for my team.

A jerk is a jerk, even if he is a HoF'er for my favorite team.

You have to understand Patler that deep down inside Tex is really a thug. Had he been born a Mexican he for sure would be cartel. For example, I could definitely see him ordering Rastak’s head be chainsawed off. “Disloyalty” is one of his favorite words to use. It’s pretty much gang rule #1, follow blindly no matter what.

hahahahaha Si, Senor, that's me, especially the Rastak thing.

All I said about Rodgers and Favre is that they brought me/all of us over 30 years of excellence on the football field. LOYALTY is recognizing that. Disloyalty is subordinating the winning football to the silly shit. The various varieties of alleged shit to me at least are meaningless compared to the joy I/we got from all that winning football. And talk of "abhorrent behavior"? I get threatened routinely for even a hint of you know what kind of posting. This shit about "abhorrent behavior" doesn't belong in the football side of the forum any more than the stuff you often threaten me about.

So is Hackett basically a quality control coach now?

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- On his second full day on the job, New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich made a major shake-up on his coaching staff, stripping the playcalling responsibilities from embattled offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

The move, announced by Ulbrich on Thursday, has an added layer of significance because Hackett is an Aaron Rodgers confidant. One of the main reasons why Rodgers wanted to be traded to the Jets last year was his close relationship with Hackett.

The new playcaller is Todd Downing, a former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator who coaches the quarterbacks and holds the title of passing game coordinator. He will have "the full say on the game plan and, ultimately, the plays that are called within the game," Ulbrich said.

"This is more a byproduct of a different take on things," he said, explaining his rationale. "I'm not saying it's a better or worse take on things by any means, but just a different take on things, a fresh approach."

Hackett will remain on the staff in an undisclosed role. Ulbrich said no titles will change, only roles, and also announced that he will remain the defensive coordinator and will continue to call plays. He hopes to be involved in the offense in time, looking to "infuse my personality" into that unit.

It is possible Hackett is good at preparing a game plan while also being shitty at executing the plan on a play by play basis...
