It is also possible he has Rodgers' endorsement and otherwise just sucks.

MiLF was the one who hired a guy who had proven his incompetence in the league. The fact that Denver then gave him the top job hoping to trade for Rodgers and then the Jets gave him a sweet gig for the same reason tells me GMs aren't very smart. Rodgers endorsement effectively meant "he listens to what I tell him to do" and he won 2 MVPs that way. The lesson here should be to let Rodgers design the offense and be the on field coach because it works really well when he does that.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- On his second full day on the job, New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich made a major shake-up on his coaching staff, stripping the playcalling responsibilities from embattled offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

The move, announced by Ulbrich on Thursday, has an added layer of significance because Hackett is an Aaron Rodgers confidant. One of the main reasons why Rodgers wanted to be traded to the Jets last year was his close relationship with Hackett.

The new playcaller is Todd Downing, a former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator who coaches the quarterbacks and holds the title of passing game coordinator. He will have "the full say on the game plan and, ultimately, the plays that are called within the game," Ulbrich said.

"This is more a byproduct of a different take on things," he said, explaining his rationale. "I'm not saying it's a better or worse take on things by any means, but just a different take on things, a fresh approach."

Hackett will remain on the staff in an undisclosed role. Ulbrich said no titles will change, only roles, and also announced that he will remain the defensive coordinator and will continue to call plays. He hopes to be involved in the offense in time, looking to "infuse my personality" into that unit.

Well, that blows apart my speculation that Rodgers had something to do with Saleh's firing in order to protect Hackett.

        Oops. My bad.

so why DID they fire Saleh, then? Wasn't he about to do pretty much the same thing? Did the players stop listening? Hmmm.
