Screw it. I'll make my own banjo thread, with blackjack and hookers!

Eric Stokes is noticeably missing from almost any reporting on the game. Same as his coverage skills were missing during the game.

Converting on just 1 third or fourth down ain't gonna win much, if ever.

Lions had 20 third and fourth-down plays, The Packers had 5.

The turf monster almost saved the day when Jared Goff slipped and fell. However, almost doesn't count in the NFL. Also if you say "Jared Goff" real fast after several drinks it sounds just like "Jerk Off".

In the first half when the game seemed to be escaping the Pack, LaFluer seemed to adjust to the "Malik Willis" game plan and just run the ball down the Lions throats for that first TD. Perhaps he's finally learning that Jordan Love is also more than capable of running that style of offense.

I noticed Jordan Love still looks likes he's trying to figure out where to throw the ball each snap where Goff looked like he knew exactly where to throw the ball each snap. Perhaps this is an illustration of the experience of a veteran QB versus the inexperience of a second year starter.

Kraft and Watson really need to stop leaping into the air while running with the ball in their hands. Huge injury risk, increased potential to fumble and sets a bad example for the rest of the team.

Without Josh Jacobs Jingleheimer Schmidt - I feel like the Packers don't have a winning record this season.

The refs were giant stinky mounds of fecal matter and should go fuck themselves.

Didn't see the game but...when 1 team converts 11 3rd and 4th downs to 1 for the other team and runs 30 more plays as a result, that's a pretty big advantage.

The offense had to win this game, and they didn’t.
Same requirement will be there if we meet them in the playoffs.

I think one of the biggest issues with our pass coverage is the lack of pass rush. We would look a whole lot better if we could consistently apply pressure.

Above you talk about Stokes, but here is an excerpt from Acme about our LB’s in coverage. It’s rather damning.

“According to Pro Football Focus, Green Bay Packers linebacker Isaiah McDuffie has been targeted 23 times over the last two games and has allowed 20 receptions for 209 yards and two touchdowns. On top of that, fellow linebackers Quay Walker and Eric Wilson have been targeted a combined 20 times for 19 receptions, 155 yards and a touchdown over that same time span.“

I don’t know if you can really say the offense this or that when they scored 31 points. I did feel before the game it would take about 35 to win which rang true sadly. So yes the offense needed a little bit more. It pretty much came down to who had the ball last. They never got the chance to see if they could take it for a game winning drive.

The 20-5 downs stat Cap noted is some shit.

Reed played only 25 of the 50 snaps on offense. Something must be wrong with him.

I think that is probably true - it's hard to imagine it was just gameplanning, though I suppose it could be situational.

Eric Stokes is just bad. That pick did not work out.

The failure of the defensive line was key in this game. Absolutely key.

And with all the injuries at linebacker, where is Tyron (Dennis) Hopper? The Packers apparently had him rated way higher than most analysts - as a fifth or sixth rounder - so is this the case of thinking you're the smartest guy in the room and you fucked up, or is he really talented but just super, super raw?

Of all the Packers draft picks last year, Hopper was the one I liked the least. He's either a guy who is going to need a lot of development, or he's just a special teams guy.

              Draft Projection Round 5

              Overview
An off-ball linebacker with length, speed and agility, Hopper is lacking in field vision and instincts. He can be a step late to diagnose play design and has moments where he looks lost in coverage. Hopper has sideline-to-sideline range and plenty of physicality to hit what needs to be hit. There are holes in his game that can be exploited, but he has traits and should get a chance as an NFL backup with special teams value.

              Strengths
              Long-limbed with above-average explosiveness.
Speed to trigger downhill and disrupt play design.
Can attack linemen with force or punch and play around them.
Flies in to make plays as a striker.
Agility and twitch to bounce late and find cutting running backs.
Can work past blitz pickup and threaten the pocket.

              Weaknesses
Plays through a straw with limited field vision.
Slow to key play development and stay ahead of blockers.
Lacks decisiveness and takes substandard angles to the ball.
Hard hitter but needs to improve tackle security.
Looked lost at times with coverage responsibilities.

In pass protection, the difference between our offensive line vs their defensive line and our defensive line vs their offensive line was noticable.

I can't say for sure whether they should get credit or we should receive blame. Either way, that's the difference in the game that stood out to me the most.

Our defense plays too soft against elite talent. You can’t let Goff complete 90% of his passes and render the pass rush useless by dropping everyone back 15 yards. Playing soft works against mid tier QBs and when you have a lead. It isn’t the recipe against the Eagles, Lions or Vikings as we’ve seen 4 times this season. If the Packers don’t make considerable changes, there is no hope of making much noise in the postseason.

I disagree It's not soft so much as we couldn't make as many plays against a better offense.

It’s soft defense. The Lions dominated TOP despite not being able to run the ball. We couldn’t make plays because there were no defenders within 5 yards of most receivers. How many deep balls did Detroit attempt? None, because they didn’t have to.

This defense has to make a commitment to aggressively countering a short passing game at some point, or there in no chance it will make the NFCC game.

We blitzed a lot and did a good job stopping the run game. They exploited the blitzing because we didn't get pressure.

It's not as simple as saying they're too "soft" or need to be "harder." But if you're into that, I'm not judging.

The defensive front 4 isn't good enough to get pressure without help. When JA is out, the secondary is sub par, causing softer play to protect the corners. The effect is a defense that looks soft, because being more aggressive would expose them.

We were told all offseason that the 4-3 defense Halfley employs, like SF's, relies on QB pressure being generated by the front four, that that was the key to the defense. We were also told that the players were lovin' being all turned loose in Halfley's defense, getting to be aggressive, etc, etc. Finally they could unleash the beast!

Bottom line is that Green Bay's defensive line has not generated pressure. Rashan Gary has not lived up to his paycheck, nor has Kenny Clark, and Devonte Wyatt's third-year-breakout has broke, and Lukas Van Mess does not seem to be progressing.

This would seem to be an indictment of the defensive line coach, OR Brian Gutekunst, who has drafted defense high, over and over, with not a whole lot to show for it. Quay Walker. Devonte Wyatt. Lukas Van Mess. Now Rashan Gary not playing well. Ty'ron Hopper non-existent. Javon Bullard meh.

At this moment in the season, this does not seem like a team with the wherewithall to get deep into the playoffs.
