To me, it'd be the sweetest schadenfreude if Jaire couldn't play that game due to a vague, lingering injury issue.

Uncool Pack fans love making fun of J-Alex’s injuries. Yet, there’s not a single joke about “Cletidius” Clark’s joke of a season.
In 17 regular season games last season, Clark produced 1 sack; 37 tackles; 4 tackles for loss. The Packers paid this bum more than 21 million frogskins.
Why the fuck hasn’t Gutekunst insist that Clark, too, takes a pay cut?I don’t want a battle from beginning to end

He'll play that game. He might miss most of the season, but he'll visit a faith healer to play that game just to show us a thing or 2. He probably will get burned for 3 TDs but get one pick and crow about it.Originally posted by Fritz View PostTo me, it'd be the sweetest schadenfreude if Jaire couldn't play that game due to a vague, lingering injury issue.
Honestly his talent is undeniable, but I advocated trading him BEFORE last season. Just like I advocated trading Bak when we still could have landed a 3rd because he "might" play and was healthy in camp. Some guys you don't want on your roster because their impact on other players is not worth it. I'll point out something else. I said Rasul Douglas had a MONSTER positive impact on Jaire by getting him in the film room a little bit. I sometimes wonder if Rasul had been around if Jaire would have turned out a bit different. (although based on his dad's buffoonery I'm guessing it was baked in).The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Are you comparing a guy who played 17 games with lingering issues to a guy who sat with a hangnail?Originally posted by Anti-Polar Bear View PostUncool Pack fans love making fun of J-Alex’s injuries. Yet, there’s not a single joke about “Cletidius” Clark’s joke of a season.

Because Clark played 17 games despite a toe injury that required surgery in the offseason.Originally posted by Anti-Polar Bear View PostUncool Pack fans love making fun of J-Alex’s injuries. Yet, there’s not a single joke about “Cletidius” Clark’s joke of a season.

Trust me, if the Pack thought their was a playing issue or declining issue with Clark they would have gone to him to restructure for less.Originally posted by run pMc View PostThis.
Also, Clark's time will come. If he doesn't have a better year, he's likely a cap casualty next offseason.
That is how the NFL works. I’ve seen it first hand. With my client, he was top 5 in his position and got a great 2nd contract. Two years later he was cut when he wouldn’t restructure after a bad season and then an injury year.
The great thing for my client was he signed a 1 year prove it deal after getting cut and he did. He got a very nice 3rd contract. But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Cletidius had a toe? More like an excuse.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostBecause Clark played 17 games despite a toe injury that required surgery in the offseason.
Hustling Jack Heflin coulda matched Cletidius’ production for a lot less frogskins. Clark is being paid All-Pro money. He plays like an undrafted free agent from Wisconsin-Stevens Point.I don’t want a battle from beginning to end

I will be mailing you my resume, along with an old 33 Packers Aaron Jones jersey. Would appreciate it if your “client” could sign it.
You know what, Thunder, since I am on a dreaded “downswing” at poker and have lost $6700 since May, fuck the interview. Say, you hire me right now and I’ll take a puny $50K salary.I don’t want a battle from beginning to end

Seems Jaire's dad is warning the packers (and the league) that Jaire is in the best condition of his career. I'd start by asking why he wasn't in that condition after signing for a monster deal, but I digress. Jaire's dad reminds me of Tyrese Haliburton's dad. I hope it ends the same way....no, thats mean. I just hope he misses 14 games with a hangnail. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

This is the time of year where virtually every player is "In the best shape of his career"(TM). I can't count how many times I've heard that and then seen that player suck when camp or the season rolled along.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostSeems Jaire's dad is warning the packers (and the league) that Jaire is in the best condition of his career. Alexander will have some really good games and get some dings along the way and miss some games. If I have to guess, I'd say he misses 7 games. However, comparisons to Clark are a bit off base, as Clark could still take up space on the line with a bum toe. If Alexander tried to play with an injury that limited his speed, he'd be burned like a Canadian forest.2025 Ratpickers champion.

As I pointed out to be in "the best shape of his career" implies he wasn't peaked out before. Now thats fine and all but a stalwart like Jerry Rice never said those words because he was always in peak shape. That phrase is reserved for underachievers and those that haven't respected their bodies to date.
It matters when a player has fundamentally changed his outlook and made a real life style change. If Belton comes in at 335 and has added a bunch of muscle next year I'll take note. College kids tend to get by on ability and that first couple years tells you how serious they are. However when a 6 year vet decides its time to get serious....well, I don't take them seriously without seeing it for an extended period. Maybe Jaire has had a come to jesus moment, but I won't bet on it lasting.
Look at Zack Tom and how his body has changed without losing any ability. He's a young skilled guy who took it very serious to get bigger and stronger right from the jump. As opposed to guys like Albert Haynesworth who got serious the camp before he needed a new contract on a regular basis. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi
