It's also used for vets who've had a couple of down seasons after previously being good. In those cases, it's more of a description that the player has realized getting older requires a different, and more intense regiment to prepare for a season. It may or may not work, but it doesn't prevent injuries or the general beating of an NFL season. I'm pretty sure that it happened with Rodgers before the 2019 season, and it did make a difference for a couple of years.2025 Ratpickers champion.

Maybe, but I revert back to what I said about anything a dad/sister/wife says regarding a player. I ignore it.Originally posted by Patler View PostIn fairness to Pops Alexander, he might be referring to his son being fully healthy for the first time in a while and able to do an offseason as he wanted, instead of mostly rehab. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Ya, I do too. Heck, this time of year I ignore what anybody says about players, including coaches, media types and the players themselves.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostMaybe, but I revert back to what I said about anything a dad/sister/wife says regarding a player. I ignore it.

Mostly so. However as camp starts you will start to see themes develop....such as Evan Williams getting "better" praise than Jevon Bullard last year. Coaches are loathe to bad mouth a player, but the phrasing can tell you a lot.Originally posted by Patler View PostYa, I do too.
