Looking at Love's contract, I think he is basically guaranteed to be the starter the next two years, so I suspect we'll learn a lot. He'll either take the next step and we'll be able to contend, or he won't, and he'll be cut before 2027.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out. I think/hope he will rise to the occasion and they will get to the NFCC.

He is banged up with the elbow thing, running with the ball is a threat to his health.
I though he could've run for at least the first down there. I was screaming at the TV on that one.

I think over the bye they drummed into his head that he needs to be ok with the checkdown and not throw so many YOLO balls downfield. His INTs dropped quite a bit.
Agree on the specific play you mentioned though, he would have picked up 3-5 yards if he'd scrambled, which makes me wonder if it was worried about the injuries he's already had this year.

As for the no emotion thing, I think you actually want that out of your QB. It's what you call poise and handling pressure. The rest of the team will take their cue from him - good or bad, move on to the next play. It's hard enough without letting the previous play live in your head rent free.

In comparison, Sam Darnold's eyes were popping out of his eyes and he was probably seeing ghosts against the Rams.

Exactly!! He never took what the defense was giving him. Just locked on with blinders like many have mentioned.

But the apparent lack of fire in his belly is concerning. But we really don't know. We are trying to piece together a puzzle where we have precious little information.

I do wonder what the toll of all the injuries were taking on his performance.

I'm not sour on the kid yet. I'll wait to see how he does next season.
This is as close a segue way to my recent thoughts as I'm gonna get, so here I go:

Conecting your thoughts on leadership to another player - Kesean Nixon. I like him mostly as a player - he does make plays - and before this season he seemed to be awfully good as a returner. So when he came out at the end of the season and basically said "Nah, I ain't returning kicks no more," that bothered me. Teams that win championships are laser focused on, as Bo Schembecler used to say, "the team, the team, the team." Guys who will do any thing, any thing at all, to win. Play out of position. Return kicks. Block. Whatever it is, if it's for the team, they'll do it.

I can understand that Nixon doesn't want to return kicks any more. Okay. But don't say thiat in public. Go talk to The Flower and tell him, and say you don't want to do it any more but if the team needs him to do that, he will. Then Flower, as a good coach, will say "I hear you," and he'll put the wheels in motion so Guter gets a kick return guy - and maybe a guy who can and will return punts too, as Jayden Reed is sure-handed but no real threat.

But to come out sounding like Jaire - "me, me, me," well, that's not a good look and does not send a good message to your teammates.

I didn't like how he went about trying to lose the kickoff return duties.
"The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Bart Starr didn't outwardly show emotion either. He played very "business-like", not unlike Love.

Besides it being a different world when peeps didn't seem to showboat as much, all the stuff I have seen about Starr showed confidence while humble. Love appears humble but his face and body language did not appear confident.

I wasn’t sure but after watching this 2023 season review I saw a big difference:

I found it interesting in that you saw his confidence grow. This season I don’t think you can say that happened. I do think he can be saved but it needs to be addressed. LaFleur said as much on one of his press conferences.

I wonder how much of that was impacted by his injuries? A knee injury will mess with your mechanics, which can mess with your accuracy. Likewise on the groin injury. So much of throwing fundamentals are actually in the footwork and legs.
I think his mental makeup is fine. Dude has been through a lot in his young life and this is no different.

He has room for improvement, but Jordan Love is not the problem with this team.

Ok maybe I was venting a bit but he was one of the problems this season more at the end.
