The Bears are expected to trade for Chiefs All-Pro guard Joe Thuney in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday, per sources informed of the situation.
The deal for Thuney, which won't be official until the start of the new league year on March 12, comes on the heels of Chicago agreeing to a trade for Los Angeles Rams guard Jonah Jackson.
In two days, Chicago has completely revamped the interior of its offensive line, adding Pro Bowl talents who, if healthy, will massively boost the pocket in front of Caleb Williams.
The 32-year-old Thuney remains one of the top guards in the NFL, able to shield the pocket and blow open lanes in the run game. With issues at left tackle in 2024, the Chiefs swung the guard outside to stabilize Patrick Mahomes' blind side. The move helped shore up the LT spot but left K.C. wanting on the interior.
Thuney has one year left on his contract with a base salary of $15.5 million. The Chiefs save $16 million on the salary cap with the trade. He could see a contract extension in Chicago that Kansas City, with its cap situation, would have had a hard time conjuring.

Finally, some clarity on the DK Metcalf situation. Over the past week, it’s been reported that the Green Bay Packers were in conversations with the Seattle Seahawks for a trade of the receiver, while others reported that Metcalf wasn’t available in trade talks.
Now it’s official: Metcalf wants out of Seattle. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Metcalf wants to play for a contender and has had “a series of discussions” with the Seahawks about it over several weeks. This news came shortly after Seattle released fellow Seattle wide receiver Tyler Lockett on Wednesday.
Why does Metcalf make sense in Green Bay? He’s essentially a more-developed version of Christian Watson, a big-body receiver who can play on the outside and take the top off of the defense. Without Watson for at least three-quarters of the season, due to his ACL tear, the Packers are in search of a player like Metcalf to keep defenses honest in 2025.I can't run no more

Lukewarm on Metcalf
Thuney is plenty good and the Bears are improved on the OL for sure, but I have to think Thuney's gonna want an extension and he's 32.
Rodgers was actually not plenty good last year with good skill players around him - he was ranked right about 22nd, I believe. If he plays for LV or the Giants (supposedly the front runners) he's not going to be better. He's a year older and those teams are lousy. He's not good enough to carry a team like he used to, and he's a PR nightmare.
Minnesota has McCarthy waiting in the wings, they'll let Darnold walk and get a nice comp pick. McCarthy's contract is cheap and reports were that he looked good in camp last year. Kevin O'Connell didn't win Coach of the Year for being an idiot.Comment

Seahawks initial asking price for DK Metcalf is a 1st and a 3rd.
That on top of the $30M per year he wants in a new contract.
