Once Rams were interested, I don't think anyone else had a chance at Adams. They have everything Adams would be looking for: West coast, great quarterback, chance to win right now.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

So running the West Coast offense wouldn't have been enough?Originally posted by Joemailman View PostOnce Rams were interested, I don't think anyone else had a chance at Adams. They have everything Adams would be looking for: West coast, great quarterback, chance to win right now.
I'm okay with the Pack not signing Adams again. And you can't blame the guy for wanting to play closer to home, with a great QB. I don't think we are quite sure yet what Love is or will be, whereas Adams knows what he's getting in Stafford. And McVay's a good coach."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Surprised to read something like this. This is what Gouchebag would like you to believe as the company line. Adams wanted to resign with Green Bay one full year before we sent him packing to the Raiders. We didn't foot the money enough. Disappointed, and frustrated they would not go to where Deandre Hopkins was, he was classy enough to play his ass off going into his contract year. Many won't do that. But GB lost Adams at that point. Gouchebag made the phantom offer and leaked it to the press only after all the damage was down. GREAT PR move by a guy who's honestly not that good at PR, but he's sneaky stubborn and cunning IMO.Originally posted by King Friday View PostAdams has no interest in being here, otherwise he would’ve stayed when the Packers offered more money years ago. Move on.
Adams leaked things several ways he was interested in coming back to GB. Interveiew, Instagram posting the green n gold shoes....etc.
I'm not trying to argue when GB offereed him less money he still wouldn't have went to the Rams.
But dammit GOUCHEBAG, Make the F'cking call.
We grossly overpaid Aaron Banks as an OG.
If the money was near the same, would anybody really rather have Banks than Devante Adams ?TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I'm fine with them not bringing in Adams. He's still good but he's old and expensive. He also feels like a weird fit given the roster and their needs. He's not a Watson replacement, he's more of a Doubs/Wicks replacement., and if Wicks gets a hand transplant he basically is Adams Jr.
Re: Metcalf, I like him in the Watson role but not for what PIT gave up. Darnell fricking Mooney had nearly identical stats last year with the corpse of Kirk Cousins throwing to him, at 1/3 of the price.
You'd be effectively giving either Adams or Metcalf a third contract, and based on 3rd contracts to Bahk and Kenny Clark I think Gute should just draft a WR or two.

Well....he literally didn't want to be HERE before. I don't believe he has ever publicly said he wants to return. He wants to come back if we offer him the most money (just like every player listens to God and signs where the most money is).Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostPay the guy that doesn’t want to be where he is at instead of the guy that knows where he has been and wants to come home?
But now we don’t get shit!

Did Adams reach out to us? No, he hinted around to increase his potential contract on the west coast. Gutes once tried to make Adams the highest paid WR in the game and Adams balked. Why would Gutes reach out to him now that he is 3 years older?Originally posted by Bretsky View PostGoucheBag never reached out to Adams to explore the option. Me. I'd much rather have an ascending road grader of a guard than an aging drama prone WR who has been unhappy for 3 consecutive years.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostSurprised to read something like this. I would take Josh Myers for 5 MIL per year over grossly overpaying for an OG most graded out to be in the bottom half of NFL guards. And I didn't even really like Myers that much.
And maybe we don't do that if the DL we really wanted didn't go to the Bears. Who knows.
I also think Adams is FAR from a drama queen. Per the media who covered GB as well as his teammates he was considered to be a positive leader and chemistry guy in the locker room. Gouchebag just didn't want to sign him the year before his contract when he wanted to stay in GB and then brilliantly made some phantom offer the leaked it to the media after Devante was mentally out the door. Great manipulation some fell for.

Not sure who graded Banks bottom half, but I would disagree. As for Adams he demanded a trade from GB, got his destination of choice, then leveraged a trade from there to play with his QB again, then whined into being cut. I don't really want to give him any real money (and now I'll get my way).Originally posted by Bretsky View PostI would take Josh Myers for 5 MIL per year over grossly overpaying for an OG most graded out to be in the bottom half of NFL guards. The Myers contract surprised me, I thought after what John Runyan Jr. got last year plus all the crazy money thrown around this year that he'd get more than a $3M offer. That tells me teams think either his injury/recovery is a bigger issue than advertised, or they just don't think he's very good based on his tape. (or both)
When you have that many starts and can't get a multi-year deal, something is off.
The Banks contract feels like a big overpay, maybe personnel guys/insiders think differently. Moving Jenkins and starting Banks raises the floor of the OL overall and certainly seems to commit to running gap/inside zone stuff for Jacobs. It feels like they are leaning into the run game with that contract, and if Banks is even slightly above average at LG that contract won't look awful in 3 years with how contracts (and the cap) are exploding.
Davante's move to LV really backfired after Carr got benched/released, and the trade to NYJ was never going to save their season. Getting cut from the Jets was inevitable with his contract and their post-Rodgers cap mess. Adams probably has another good/decent year in him but Gute isn't going to bring a 32 year old WR in for $20M+, he basically does what Doubs/Wicks does (much better, I'll grant you) at 8 times the cost. Gute would only do that if Rodgers was still here and playing well to lure him back another season lol
