    I can't run no more
    With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
    A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

Saturday, July 26: Free concert by the Great Arm of Butte, somewhere near Lambeau Field. 6PM. Debuting songs from forthcoming sophomore album, “The Ballad of a Burger Flipping Loser,” including the lead single, “Aaron Rodgers”:

You’re the Buttey, the Buttey I desire
Let’s watch Chicago burn over Butte’s fire
And after everything has turned into dust
Perhaps we could find Love in lust
And if Love lacks grace and beauty
The darkness will drown our misery

I saw the last game of a Predators playoff sweep of the Blackhawks and the house band played "The Night Chicago Died" and loved it.

NHL, eh? Get back to me when the NHL signs a Black player.

Btw, Coldplay will be playing live at Camp Randell Stadium, July 19. I would love to be there, but ain’t got a girlfriend to take.

APB, why not recognize the gains that have been made instead of promoting blatant falsehoods?

There are probably 35-40 blacks on NHL rosters right now, and over 100 who have played in the NHL. Last I saw, over 200 have been drafted. Numerous All-Stars and several in the HoF.

Yes, the numbers are low, but the fault rests at youth levels where not a lot take up the sport and stay with it. The pool for the NHL to draft from is small.

Pro hockey continuous to evolve. When I was young, American NHLers were very uncommon. Even into the 1980s, the rosters were well-over 70% Canadian. That has dropped to less then 50% now. Ethnic minority representation has increased as the league becomes less Canadian.

BTW, the first black signed by an NHL team was in the early 1900's, and the first recognized to have played was in the 1950's. The story of his treatment is shameful, but probably not a lot worse than that of the first blacks in other pro sports. Those who experienced it should be recognized and honored for what they did, not swept under the rug and forgotten with blatant falsehoods about where the league stands today.

Patler, well done. Although this was way more response than warranted by someone just desperate for attention. Bottom line, sports doesn't do good old boys or any other favoritism. If you help a team win you get to play and get paid. Although the exception of "I drafted this guy so he gets extra opportunities when outplayed" is alive and well.

Back in them good ole JSOnline days when we all were “young and full of life and full of love,” I used to joke with a rational version of Tex named “St.LouisPackersBacker” (St. Lou) about his beloved “All-Blacks” rugby team.

I was like, yo, get back to me when the All-Blacks signs a Black player.

Bobble, in all his arrogance, was like, there are black players on the All-Blacks, you tool.

The Kentucky was like, Tinkerbell, All-Blacks pertains to the New Zealand national rugby team, which dons black unis, fool.

St. Lou was like, word, not only do black players play for the All-Blacks, there are in fact indigenous Black folks in New Zealand and/or its surrounding areas. Tank Elf Duke simply likes denoting black folks with African-Americans.

With all due respect to Woodbuck, I am colorblind when it comes down to the sophisticated folks of His Majesty’s Kingdom of Canada. All Canadiens are the color moose to me. Name one Black African-American NHL player.

Btw, and again with all due respect to good ole Woody, hockey is boring as fuck. Bunch of (mostly) whites playing soccer on ice - soccer itself is boring as fuck, but at least it’s full of vivid colors. Only exciting part about hockey is the fights - there’s something fascinating about grown men committing battery and being put in “cells” afterwards. I’d rather watch figure skating than hockey.

And I’ll save Fosco time typing this: training camp can’t come soon enough. We’re chatting about damn hockey, for fuck’s sake!

Are they? Is any nationality or racial, religious or ethnic group collectively "good" at anything?

Boring? You want boring? Spend three hours watching a "60 minute" game that has maybe 12 minutes of actual action, if you are lucky. I haven't watched an NFL game in real time in years. Thank God for my dvr and fast-forward.

Yes, NFL players spend too much time idling. Ball doesn’t get snapped til there’s 5 seconds or less. Each play typically lasts less than 10 seconds. Players pretty much stand around most of the time. But I reckon, what little action there is in football, it sure beats chasing after a pluck all day.

Sports are meant to be watched “live,” but you do you. I once quit a burger flipping gig on the spot when management refused to give me time off for the infamous Packers-Seafucks NFC Championship game. I wasn’t gonna watch the Bostick fuck up 8 hours after it happened.
