  • Six? Who are you not including? Belton?

If they keep more than 8 O Linemen, it clogs up the roster and takes away a spot from somebody at a different position that deserves it. I'd like to see them keep just seven, but probably less than eight is not gonna happen.

Regarding Sorrell, as good as he has been, his injury might be an opportunity to stash him on PUP or returnable IR, allowing somebody else to be kept that would otherwise be lost.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

That seems to be the consensus on ACME, and I'd agree with you there. Morgan as the super sub, and then what - ? Losing Travis Glover might've hurt more than you'd think. Jacob Monk seems to have lost the confidence of his coaches, and Telfort and Jennings have been underwhelming.

      • If Banks can't go week 1 that is serious egg on Gutes face. I'm curious as to why he hasn't had Belton working at guard at all since his skill set matches it better than Morgan. Gutes seems more obsessed with body type than a horny 17 year old. Belton looks like a tackle so no guard work. Morgan looks like a guard so lets work him in there as a rook. I'm really miffed at his ignoring actual skill. Evan Williams was more a safety and Bullard ever was from day one. Results matter. Looks are nice but ineffective in a man's game.

I'd settle for a Lucas Patrick type. A darkhorse to make the roster might be Lecitus Smith. He's been around since 2022. Was on Packers practice squad in 2024 until claimed by Patriots. Made 1 start at Center for Patriots. Also made 2 starts at Guard for Cardinals in 2022. Was picked up by Packers recently after having been waived by Steelers in May.

          • I'm guessing a little toradol gets Banks ready to go week 1. He'll be his usual mediocre self.

            • I don't think Simmons ever really developed as a LB. He was a safety/box defender type at Clemson, and teams tried at different spots too. I think GB is smart to just put him at LB and try to teach him one position, but I also think he's not a naturally instinctive player on the pro level. If he could put it together he'd be a menace though. Even with that you can play him on teams and hope he never sees the field otherwise. I think Welch might take his spot ultimately, hard to say. Do they keep 5 or 6LBs? Do they think they'll get Oliver back and he can play LB in a pinch?

Hopper has improved, but he's still a depth guy. He'll see snaps this year though - LBs get injured like crazy.

I don't know much about Smith - I'm not even sure how to pronounce his first name - but if he can play center and both guard positions, and not get called for penalties on every third play, he'd be an upgrade over Jennings and Telfort. Now, is there someone out there who will get cut who's better than Leviticus/Lascivious/Licktimus Smith? We'll see. The Packer pro scouting department needs to earn its keep on this one.

                • Jennings played better last night, so he may have the #8 spot on the OL. Monk might be in trouble. He has a hamstring injury and they may not want to carry an injured guy on the 53 due to Banks' back issues. He could be replaced by Smith, or by a FA/Waiver pickup.

                  • I wonder if they'd just put Monk on season-ending IR and then make next summer his last summer to figure it out or not. On the other hand, they need to see if he can replace Jenkins at center, and they need to know this season.

I know Mike Wahle was really high on this guy. But that might not mean much.

Simmons has been a good gunner so far in fake games and that is an important role. Hell they swapped Meltons position to make sure he could stay on the roster. Sadly I think Welch loses out again and we keep the athlete. Some guys are natural cover men. The packers should have just taken Payton Wilson instead of Hopper and they'd have a beast cover man. Instead we are searching for a cover LB.
