I'm really miffed at his ignoring actual skill. Evan Williams was more a safety and Bullard ever was from day one. Results matter. Looks are nice but ineffective in a man's game.
How is whoch position they're playing on Guter? Isn't that what the head coach decides - where to play a guy?

I'm really rooting for Kristian Welch to make the team. Just a good ST guy.

Read a good article in ACME about why the Packers' punt returns will probably still be very "meh" this year. Basically the article said that the vast majority of effective punt returners are smallish, and that doesn't mesh with The Flower's preferred body type at receiver, so we're going to see another season of Jayden Reed making fair catches.

In the past Packers had success using DB's as punt returners. Charles Woodson, Will Blackmon, Tramon Williams. Don't know if they don't want to use DB's there, or if the DB's they've had recently just haven't shown a knack for it. But yeah, don't expect much excitement if it's Reed. Fair catches and running out of bounds after a few yards to avoid contact.

It must be one of the more dangerous positions to play in as an NFL player - you're exposed to savage hits pretty often should you choose to return the ball. And now that punters are getting better and better at hanging the ball in the air, you've got two defenders screaming at you the second you touch the ball.

Yet I would think that the opportunity to get a "touch" - to handle the ball with the potential to pick up yards - would be like red meat for receivers or defensive backs who want the ball and don't get many chances at it very often (unless you're a #1 or 2 receiver).

A guy like Javon Bullard or Bo Melton would seem to be the type that might want to get the ball in their hands as punt returners. I know if I were Kadeem Haddad, I'd be begging the coaches to let me try returning the punts. If you can hang on to the ball and get upfield even a bit, you've got an inside track on a spot on the 53.

Can somebody just put Savion Williams out of his misery and just IR the guy? Has he even practiced a half dozen times? He was already raw as it was, and now he hasn’t been on the field.

They must feel he's relatively close to coming back. If they put him on IR, he can't practice for about 6 weeks.

Um, the 2025 training camp is history. This post should be in the “Official Packers-Pussies of Detroit Discussions” thread.

I think they planned some packages for him when they drafted him. Sort of a Chase Claypool kind of role from his days in Pittsburg. They don't want to give up on those just yet.
