OK: you threw me a soft pitch here

I think most considered Hurts top 5 last year. I would say being top 5 has brought some Super Bowls lately from the Eagles and the Chiefs

Dak at his best is kinda like Love; I'm not sure where you put him.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

My personal feeling is that Love is better overall than anybody other than Mahomes and maybe Allen. The rest of the six you mentioned are pretty good but IMO, not better than Love. Good job of not mentioning God damned Goff or Stafford or Caleb Williams or the Jacksonville guy or several others. I wouldn't have complained, though, had included Aaron Rodgers.

Well I think you are kinda crazy

Love is not even close to Burrow's league as a passer. And Hurts, right now, is better than love at pretty much all skills. Ditto for Herbert. Love isn't close to Lamar. Patrick and Josh are elite; Love is not. Maybe someday

I may be missing others; but best case is I'd take my six over Love for sure.

Lawrence seems lost. Not sure about Williams. I'm not goign to make an argument either way there. Goff is very solid; you know what you are getting with him as he's stable and smart...which is sometimes more than Love gives us. Stafford, jsut seems like he should retire and enjoy his millions

We'll see. It irks me , though, when somebody who supposedly is a Packer fan dwells on the negativity all that much. If you're not a homer, kindly just shut up about it.

Objectively speaking, though, I'd take Love based on his performance up to now over everybody but Mahomes and Allen, and even Mahomes shows signs of fading prematurely. If you have such a high opinion of those other guys, then go and root for whoever the hell they play for.

You didn't even mention Aaron Rodgers. I suppose you're negative about him too hahahaha.

I was thinking in 2023 that Love's ceiling was maybe Phillip Rivers, but now I'm thinking more Brad Johnson. Hopefully the down performances are mostly injury and O-line related. A really solid running game and improved defense might help him look better as well.

Ironically, Love's stats may actually be down a little bit because of the Packers great running game. I have always advocated a pass first offense, but the RBs the Packers have now make even me favor run first. The Packers now are sorta the way Badger football has traditionally been, loaded with outstanding RBs, not just Jacobs but potentially Marshawn Lloyd too along with Wilson and even potentially a couple beyond that.

Is all that as well as Love's greatness primarily caused by O Line quality? Hell no. It's just the opposite. Great QB play, especially mobility. as well as great RB play tends to make the O Line look better than it probably really is. As I've said before and a lot of people disagreed with, you can plug in just about anybody, and have a great offense - so long as you have somebody like Rodgers or Love at QB or the RBs the Packers have now.

Why do I think Love is so great? Two things above all else: mobility and even more important, judgment. And judgment means that Love, similar to Aaron Rodgers , throws extremely few offense-killing interceptions. Many of those that some are claiming are better don't have either that level of judgment or of mobility like Love has.

I think that almost no knowledgeable football people consider Hurts top 5. Maholmes, Burrow, Jackson, Allen, Daniels all clearly better QBs in my book. Then you can lump Hurts with about 8-12 guys. Hurts has probably the #1 OL in football, an incredible running game, a top flight D. No way he is top 5 for my money. I will say this though. QB is as weak as I can recall overall. Retreads like Baker and Goff are arguable top 10 guys and they both were abandoned by the teams that drafted them. Guys like Dak, Lawrence and yes, even Love getting the monster contracts speaks to the weakness of the position. Hell, I'm going to channel my inner skin basket and say I'm not convinced Love is much better (if at all) than his backup.

Pretty sure he is at or over 3 game ending interceptions. And his mobility last year implied he should get the senior discount at Arbys.

edit: I'm going to be lazy like everyone else and state a fact that I haven't verified. Loves interceptions per attempt weren't even top 15 last year.

                    Love's INT% was 24th in 2024. 16th in 2023. Yeah, he's more Favre than Rodgers.

Actually a lot of the ESPN radio talking heads have Hurts at either 5 or 6. Last week I was listening to two separate shows rating their top 10....one was the early AM ESPN show with Canty, Smallman, and I can't remember the third.

But I also get the he has talent all around him argument. His numbers were prettty good last year though.....he can create on the run and his Completion percentage was decent.

What he really needs is to hit his check downs and crossers. He needs to be best friends with Kraft and Musgraves.

In the 1st preseason game he was forcing slants to Doubs and Golden in great coverage. He needs to get to his 2nd and 3rd reads if 1st is blanketed.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

That wasn't what he was doing.

Basically only the deep pass to Musgrave were good reads and accurate passes based on the concepts.
